all wore aqua taffeta similar to
that of the matron of honor but
with cap sleeves and matching
mitts. Their bouquets were also
heart-shaped of red roses and
stephnnotis.
The small flower girl, Leslie
Kay Knott, was dressed in white
organdy and carried a miniature
bouquet like those of the other
attendants.
Mr. Thomas had his brother,
Duane Thomas, for best man
and the ushers were Robert
Thomas, another brother of the
groom, Howard Woods and
Straycr Pittman. All were from
Eugene.
Church decorations were al
so carried out in red and white
with baskets of white gladio
lus and red roses. Miss Mary
Hawkins of Portland sang "Al
ways" and "Because" and at the
close of the ceremony she sang
"The Lord's Prayer" with violin
accompaniment by Miss Ann
Kafoury, also of Portland.
For the reception in Wheeler
room of the church Mrs, N. H.
Anderson poured and Miss Bet
ty Mahany cut the cake. Mrs.
Gail Card presided at the punch
bowl and Miss Bonnie Thomas
was in charge of the guest book.

The bride attended the Uni
versity of Oregon and is a mem
ber of Alpha Phi social sorority,
The groom Is a graduate of
Springfield High School and is
employed by the telephone com
pany. Following their wedding trip
the couple will be at home in
Eugene. For her going-away
costume the bride wore a wine
suit with gray accessories.

Both Mr. and Mr. Hill are
members of the First Christian
Church, Mr. Hill formerly serv
ing as treasurer and deacon of
the church in Palouse for a num
ber of years, and later as deacon
at the Eugene church. Mrs. Hill
has been active in the various
organizations of the church
both in Washington and Eugene
for years, and is a past member
of the church board of the Eu
gene church. Mrs. Hill's other ac
tivities include holding the office
of chaplain in the Daughters of
the Union Veterans of the Civil
War, and membership in several
social clubs.
COTTAGE GROVE Miss
Bertha Agnes Howe, daughter of .
Mrs. Eliza Howe, and John
Carey Hedge, son of Mr. and
Mrs. C. S. Hedge of Laramie,
Wyo., were married in Cottage
Grove, Sunday afternoon, Au
gust 22 al four o'clock, at the
home of Mrs. Cozelia Rosenthal.
The double-ring ceremony was
solemnized by the Rev. Frank E.
Brown of the First Methodist
Church. Baskets of gladiolus
were used In decoration.
The bride wore a brown wool
suit with brown accessories. She
wore a corsage of yellow rose
buds and for something old,
borrowed and blue, a sapphire
bracelet loaned by Mr. Rosen
thal. Mr. and Mri. Daltoh Ward, of
Eugene, attended the couple.
Mrs. Ward wore a gabardine suit
of black and pink carnation cor
sage. Mrs. James Kiker and Mrs.
Rosenthal served the the recep
tion following the ceremony.
Mrs. S. K. Adams poured. Mrs.
Nellie Harmon assisted. Individually-wrapped
pieces of
wedding cake were given to
each guest.
The couple will live at Eu
gene, where both are employed.

' Wash., an aunt of the bride wag
a guest.

First activity of the season for
Eugene Branch, American As
sociation of University Women,
will be a membership tea Sat
urday afternoon, September 25,
at the home of the association
president, Mrs. F. L. Stetson.
Mrs. N. R. Hawk, member
ship chairman, and Mrs. R. E.
Kerr, Jr., social chairman, are
in charge with all members of
the board serving on the hostess
committee.
Ml women interested in
AAUW, and especially those
new in the city, are invited to
attend, and each member is
asked to bring one or more pros
pective members as guests.
