No hen ever laid a bad eggl
The first egg that Ezra Hardhead
ever ate was bad unquestionably
bad!
That was years ago. but with
Ezra the memory has become an
oDsession. "All eggs are bad!" he
cries. "Away with them! Away
with the hen that lays them!" No
use reasoning with Ezra. He's an
egg bigot.
Unfortunately "bad eggs" are
not confined to the breakfast table.
Humanity too has its quota all
races, all classes, all religious. But
the Catholic "bad egg" seems to
smell worse, taste worse, and re
flect most on the hen that lays it.
Why is this, when the Catholic
Church claims to be holy? Can a
bad egg come from a good hen?
Certainly not! But bear in mind
that no hen ever laid a bad egg.
The egg that makes you run for
dear life, was, when first laid, just
as fresh as the delicacy that de
lights your palate and nourishes
your body. No fault of the hen if
a few of its products roll out of
their place in the scheme of things,
into the corrupting heat of the
world.
In like manner the Catholic
Church never produced a bad man.
The "bad egg" Catholic was, im-l
mediately after Baptism, just at
pure as the saints and angels. No
fault of the Church if a few of its
members, disregarding its teach
ings, stop out of their place in
God's plan for them, into the cor
rupting influences of the world.
The hen was made to lay fresh
eggs; and it does. Its fruits are
the source of great benefit for man
and the propagation of the chicken
tribe. The Church was made to
bring man back to God; and it
does. Its fruits of the past are the
saints who rose to heroic heights of
sanctity because they followed
with all their hearts and wills the
teachings of the Church. Its pro
ducts of today include many who,
for the same reason, will be saints
of the future, while bf its more
than 338,386,000 living members,
the vast majority are sincere be
lievers and doers of God's com
mands. There will always be bad eggs,
bad Catholics, and bad red-headed
fat men; but worse far worse
there will always be Ezra Hard
heads! If it's anything Catholic, ask a
Catholic! For information on any

LIFE MORE ABUNDANTLY
John 10:10)

IfOlA
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have It more abundantly." These
words were spoken by Christ over nineteen hundred years ago. Every heart cries out for the
abundant life, from the depths- of bitter disappointments and suffering; all hope for a more
abundant life. Christians have delayed the fulfillment of an abundant life of the spirit through
an obsession with material things as an end within themselves. In this way they bring about
a famine in the midst of plenty.
Imagine starving people Invited to a great feast with food in abundance. Then picture these
people refusing to eat freely from the table but eating the few scattered crumbs. Is this not true
with many Christians?
What does the abundant life mean to the Christian? Let ns think on some of the joys that,
are his. The Christian knows that he is an integral part of the most glorious fellowship of the
family of God and a brother in Jesus Christ. In comparison, all earthly kingdoms are but dross.
He is the heir of all good of all ages; a co-laborer with Christ and the Apostles in spreading
SJV.". m' , knows His Word is not wasted but will sland through eternity. A person
with Christ within, does not wish to dominate the life of another but wishes to teach others that
their lives, too, may be led by Christ. The soul anchored in Christ, knows that all things work
to the good of those that love the Lord.
