Eight mounted route carrier!
from Eugene Postoffice have now
been authorized to pick up first
class mail if patrons raise the flag
on their mail boxes.
Acting Postmaster Ethan New
man announced Wednesday that
request for this service on mount
ed routes had been authorized, and
that the new ruling affects about
600 families on each of the eight
routes. Previously, mounted route
carriers who drive cars could pick
up outgoing mail only if they stop
ped to leave mali. xne new service i
affects only stamped, first class I
mail, and the carriers will not
have to take parcel post.

For Springfielders

pleaded not guilty to separate
charges in municipal court here
Monday and had trial dates set by
Municipal Judge Robert Car-
michael.
James E. Hamon, 234 Eleventh
Ave. E., Eugene, charged with
driving under the influence of in
toxicating liquor posted $200 ball.
His trial is set for July 29.
Harley R. Norris, 815 C St.,
Springfield, charged with being on II

day after a logging accident 31
