Miller was June 20 in the Metho
dist Church. Several contests
were enjoyed and Miss Bayne re
ceived many nice gifts. Refresh
ments of ice cream, cake, coffee
and tea were served. The hall
was decorated with baskets of
roses.

Given Flag
From Paris
Eugene's Foreign Brides' Club
now has a flag of its own, sped
uy woven in a textile plant in
Paris by Madame Ele, who visited
the group when in America last
year. The flag, of allk and
trimmed with heavy gold fringe,
was presented to the club at its
second annual anniversary ban
quet Saturday evening by Mrs.
John Heard.' Mrs. Heard's mother
brought the flag from France.
Approximately fifty were gath
ered at the banquet, held in the
Persian Room of Eugene Hotel.
Mrs. William Kingsley presided,
and Harold Dunn served as toast
master. Following invocation by David
Campbell, guests were introduced.
These included Mr. and Mrs.
Campbell; Mrs. Helena Hoffman
and Mrs. C. V. Carter, executive
secretary and president of City
YWCA; Mrs. E. C. Gwyther of
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia,
who is the mother of Mrs. William
Hixson; Mrs. May Rhodes Lay
cock, of Keighley, Yorkshire, Eng
land, who is the mother of Mrs
William Christie; and Mrs. F. J.
Connell,
Mrs. Campbell installed the new
officers, who are: Mrs. William
Hixson, president; Mrs. Wilburn
McFarland, . vice president; Mrs.
John Heard, corresponding secre
tary; Mrs. Alvin Bray, recording
secretary; Mrs. James Breeden,
treasurer. Brief speeches were
given by both the incoming and
outgoing presidents.
Folksongs of nations were
played by a violin quartet headed
by Gwendolen Lampshire ahyden.

Cascade College read the service,
June 12, at eight-thirty o'clock.
The bride wore a gown of white
satin with finger tip veil which
was edged with lace and held in
place by a tiara. The bridal bou
quet was of white gladiolus and
roses.
Miss Arlene Frazier, sister of
the bridegroom, was maid of hon
or, and she chose a pink brocaded
satin gown. Her flowers were
pink gladiolus and white sweet

Invitations have been received
locally for the marriage of Miss
Bobbie Jean Taylor, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Martin Taylor
of Portland, to Joseph Ball Dodds
at the Reed College Chapel in
Portland Saturday afternoon,
June 26.
Following her graduation from
the University of Oregon, Miss
Taylor went to the Salem Capitol
Journal as society editor, where
was ring bearer, and Eudora Bar
she remained until recently. She
has been succeeded by Marian
Lowry Fischer, formerly of Eugene.

Mrs. Mary B. Wheeler is now
at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Virgil A. Parker, Jr., after
ker and Betty Mae Street, both of
Portland, lighted the candles. Best
man was KODert Armstrong,
brother of the bride. Arthur Coke,
Jonathan Tamplin and Edward
Steiger were ushers.
White gladiolus and candelabra
were used to decorate the church
and Carol Raymond played the
wedding march. Earl Craven
sang "I Love You Truly," and
Miss Eleanore Burton sang "God
Gave Me You."
The wedding trip was made to
California. Mr. and Mrs. Frazier
attended Pacific College at New-
berg the past year.

SET BY PRESBYTERIANS I
The Strawberry Festival, an-,
nual affair of Fairmount Presby
terian Church, will be Saturday
from three to eight o'clock. Pro
ceeds will go into the fund to re
model the church. The remodel
ing fund has been under way for
several years.
