ley place. This is a decided im
provement as the barn was dilapi
dated. Two or three other sheds
in this area are scheduled for re
moval in the near future, which
also will greatly improve the looks
of our small village.
The Christmas Program of the
Bellfountain School and Sunday
School is scheduled for Tuesday
evening, Dec. 23, at the Bellfoun
tain Community Church, under
the direction of the teachers, Mrs.
Leta Davis, Mrs. Grace Martin and
Mrs. Gladys Smith, and Mrs. H. T.
Irvin Sunday School Supt. who has
conducted Weekday Bible Classes
here for a number of years. The
program has not been made avail
able at this writing.
Mrs. Irvin has been unable to
conduct her Bible Classes recently,
because of ill health, and has can
celled the classes both here and
at Alpine.
Bellfountain Home Extension
Club met Thursday. The Christmas
party was the entertainment fea
ture of the af ternon, with gifts for
all. Mrs. R. O. (Dorothy) Baker i
was appointed Project Leader for
the "Handle With Care" meeting
for February, while Mrs. G. M.
(Helen) Gragg will assist Mrs.
Rowena Thompson, Benton County
Home Extension Leader, in the
January project, which will .be

Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Bardwell
and family have rented the J. A.
Hensyel house west of Bellfountain
and have moved from their ranch
in the Bunker Hill District to the
new location. Their daughter Betty
Len (Lennie) is a first year en
rollee in the primary room of the
Bellfountain school. The Hensyel
house was vacated recently by Mr.
and Mrs. E. Scott and son.
Mrs. Myrtle Whittington is in
Portland this week, visiting her
son Sherman Key and family, and
getting acquainted with Donn Al
len, the newcomer in the Key fam
ily. Mr. and Mrs. 'Louis Wallace and
small daughter Jill have gone to
Valsetz to spend the Christmas
holidays with Mrs. Wallace's
people, and their many friends re
siding in that area. Wallace is a
student of OSC, residing in this
area and driving to his classes each
day,
Grant Macauley of Mabel, and
Harold Macauley of Creswell have
been visiting the past three days
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Her
mon Nusbaum. Mrs, Nusbaum is
a niece of Grant Macauley and sis
ter of Harold Macauley. The men
have been assisting the young
couple with repairs at their farm
home, north of Bellfountain.
Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Gragg and
their three children, the Misses
Doris Gragg of Willamette Uni
versity Salem, and Linda, and
their son Donald, plan to leave
Saturday on a two weeks' holiday
trip to California, where they will
spend Christmas and New Years
with Mrs. Gragg's sisters, and also
visit her brother Leonard Satch
well and family of Los Angeles.
They will visit in San Jose and!
Stockton, spending Christmas in!
one city and New Years in the
other.

Taylor was Esther Duerst, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Duerst
of Gresham.
Mrs. Carlos Jones and baby son,
Ronald Richa ' came home Sun
day from a hospital in Eugene.
