crepe dress and a corsage of rosea
surrounded by stephanotis. Miss
Carroll Mae Cram attended her
sister. She wore a light rose
colored dress and a gardenia cor
sage. Leonard V. Hendricks, brother
of the bridegroom, was best man.
Before the ceremony, Miss
Evelyn Kent, accompanied by Miss
Jean Mandell, sang "Because"

A reception at the home fol
lowed the ceremony.
The bride wore for traveling to
California an aqua-colored suit
with white accessories and her
bridal flowers. Mrs. Hendricks is
attending Oregon State College
where she is member of Alpha
Lambda Delta, honorary, and ma
jors in home economics.

Mrs. Alene S. Reeder and Charles R. Fox were
married at First Congregational Church July 11.
Oregon State College, majoring in
science. They will continue at col
lege this fall.

only attendant. She wore a pink
chiffon dress and carried a nose
gay of gladiolus, petunias and
delphinium.
Special music before the cere
mony included a violin solo, "Ad
oration", by Miss June Kelson;
vocal solo, "Because", by Miss
Shirley Nelson; and the wedding
marches plaved by Mrs. Gordon
Kelso.
A reception was held after the
ceremony. Mrs. Emil Hansen,
served at the punchbowl, Mrs.
George Pinkston cut the wedding
cake and Mrs. Kelso served coffee.
Miss Margelee Kelso served the
ices. Serving were the Misses June
Kelso and Shirley Nelson.
The couple left on a wedding
trip to Victoria, B. C, after the
service, and will be at home at
1190 Olive Street, Eugene, after
August 25.

Tha Girl Scouts met Monday
evening at the Scout cabin to fur
ther their plans for a four-day
camping trip at Cresent Lake.
All girls are asked to be pres
ent Saturday at 2 p.m., for final
plans and Instructions.
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Long took
their little four year old daughter
Jenny to Portland Monday for an
operation. She is reported doing
nicely but will have to stay in hos
pital 12 to 14 days more. Mr. and
Mrs. Leon (Tyke) Nelson motored
to Portland to consult a specialist
this week. Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Varrelmann received word Wed
nesday of the birth of a baby boy,
Aug. 5, named Robert Gale to Mr.
and Mrs. Gale Varrelmann of Los
Angeles. This is the Frank Varrel
manns' first grandchild.
Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Gates are
proud owners of a new Stude
baker. Mrs. Wm. Eshom is taking her
vacation from the postoffice and
will be back on duty Aug. 20.
Mrs. Wm. McMahon Jr. is taking
her place.

Scene of Wedding
The marriage of Miss Ella M.
Reynolds, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. C. H. Reynolds, to Arnold R.
Badten, son of Mr. Robert B.
Badten of Fort Yukon, Alaska,
took place at Lighthouse Temple
Wednesday, July 30. The Rev. E. J.
Fulton read the service at eight
thirty o'clock.
The bride was given in marrigae
by her father. She wore a white
satin gown with sweetheart neck
line and full skirt. The skirt was
gathered in scollops at the waist
line. The fingertip veil was held
with a beaded tiara. Her bouquet
was of white gladiolus centered
with an orchid.
Attendants were Mrs. Eldo
Badten of Lebanon, matron of
honor; Miss Doane Beery and
Miss Bonnie Stelting, bridesmaids.
All wore blue gowns and carried
bouquets of pink gladiolus. Little
Alice Dominy, niece of the bride,
was flower girl.
Eldo A. Badten was best man.
Ushers were Mervin Millard and
Tom Duke.
A reception was held at the
home of the bride's parents. Miss
Anna Badten cut the cake. Miss
Dorothy Sutton poured punch
and Miss Luella Sutton served the
ices.
After a wedding trip, Mr. and
Mrs. Badten will be at home at
731 Polk Street, Eugene.
AT FALL CREEK
FALL CREEK Mr. and Mr.
Harvey Harkens of Oakridge are
planning to spend the weekend in
the home of Mrs. Harkins sisters,
Mr. and Mrs. John Shultt and Mr.
and Mrs. Roy Brewer, and attend
the joint reunion of the Stewart
Warner and Neet families at
Skinner's Butte on Sunday.
Mrs. Hosea Smith invited a
group of young friends to cele
brate the 11th brthday of their
daughter, Anna Vera, Friday, Aug.

George Leigh has suffered a
slight stroke and is having some
quite serious effects from it, al
though he is able to be up and
about.

HALSEY Halsey City Coun
cil Monday heard an agreement
presented by the State Highway
Commission, asking the city to
take over the maintenance of that
part of the old highway from the
Crowell service station south to
the city limits, which the council
agreed to accept. The street com
mittee reported some streets im
proved and was authorized to pre
cure a reserve supply of oil for
the streets. A fee of one dollar
per year will be charged for the
operation of each pool table.
The Halsey Garden Club Wed
nesday decided to hold a plant sale
at the next meeting. Sept. 10. to
raise money for the "save the
myrtlewood" drive. Each member
is asked to bring one or more
plants for the sale. Plans will
also be completed at this meeting
for a flower show to be given later
in the fall. Appointed for next
month were Mrs. Frank Gibson
and Mrs. Chester Slckfels.
The WCTU elected officer
Tuesday: president, Mrs. Harry
Commons; vice-president, Mrs.
J. H. Vannice; corresponding sec
retary, Mrs. Martin Mulkey; re
cording secretary, Mrs. Ruby
Standish; treasurer, Mrs. Joe
Northrup; Mrs. Orval Cobault was
appointed to organize an LTL and
to act as its superintendent. The
date of meeting was changed from
the second Tuesday of the month
to the third Tuesday. Mrs. Martin
Mulkey, Mrs. W. L. Wells and
.Mrs. Lee Foster were named to
make out the year books. The next
meeting will be at the home of
Mrs. Northrup Sept. 18 with Mrs.
Frank Maxwell leading the devo
tionals and Mrs. E. E. Carey in
charge of the lesson.
There will be another motion
picture at the Christian church
next Wednesday, Aug. M at I
P m. The pictures will be "Who
Is The Nelshbor" and "We Too
Receive". Mr. Pierce of Le
banon puts on the pictures and
there will be special music.
