FPHA) in the west will be con
ducted entirely out of the San
Francisco office beginning Friday,
Aug. 15, Jesse Epstein, director of
the new, combined region, an
nounced Wednesday. j
Epstein said that consolidation!
of the former Seattle and San!
Francisco regional offices into one1
coast-wide region is progressing
rapidly and should be completed
by Aug. 22. After Aug. 15, how
ever, all communications should be
mailed to the San Francisco office,

The new combined region in
cludes Washington, Oregon, Idaho,
Montana, Wyoming, California,
Nevada. Utah, Arizona and the ter-
nories of Alaska and Hawaii. Alii

states and territories in which federally-owned
or aided public hous
ing project! are located therefore
will now deal directly with the
San Francisco PHA office.
The consolidation of the two
regions resulted from the reduced
budget established by Congress in
the closing days of the last session.
At the same time, under a reor
ganization of the housing agenHes,
the FPHA became the Public
Housing Administration.

that three American loldier
guardi at Spandau prison, where
the Nuernberg war criminals are
held, were attacked while off duty
Tuesday night by a gang of 30 to

Pfc Philip Bell of Cambridge,
Md., was beaten unconscious and
thrown into a lake. He was rescu
ed and taken to a hospital.
Two of the attacked soldiers
fled to safety. !

plane contracts, was reported back
in New York Wednesday, haunt
ing the city' plushiest night clubi
where he won his ipuri ai a
party-giver during the war.
Where Meyer was staying was
a secret U. S. marshals and pret
ty Patricia Miles would like to
know. But he said he planned to
remain here for a while with
friends.
Warrant and Subpoena
The portly press agent, who pro
vided the comedy in last week's
Senate investigation of his ex
pense account and entertainment
of high Army officers, was want
ed by the marshals who had a
subpoena to service on him.
Miss Miles, a nightclub cigaret
girl, had a warrant out for his ar
rest, charging that he was the
father of her six months old son.
Meyer disappeared Friday
shortly after the Senate sub-corn.
mittee decided it wanted him to
reappear before it again. His
whereabouts were unknown until
Monday night when he visited the
El Moroco. He said he had been
staying In Richmond, Vs., not far
from Washington, alone.
Avoids Queries
He joined a party composed of
Steward Barthelmess, and his siS'
ter, Mary, children of silent screen
star Richard Barthelmess. Bar
thelmess said Meyer appeared as
gay as ever, but declined to dis
cuss his appearance before the
Senate sub-committee.
Neither did he offer to pick up
any checks, Barthelmess said.
