Truman Appoints

Donald S. Dawson, 39-year-old
government employe, as one of his

sistants. Dawson, a native of Eldorado
Springs. Mo., has been for several
years director of personnel for the
Reconstruction Finance Corp.
Dawson takes over the worW of
George .1. Schoeneman, formerly
executive assistant to the Presi
dent and now commissioner of In
ternal revenue.
His appointment brings to three

Dawson's appointment came in

Airfield Fire Loss
Set Above $300,000
FORT WORTH, Tex. MV-Loss
was estimated at more than
$300,000 Wednesday after a grass
fed fire raced across the airplane
packed acres of Hicks Air Field,
north of here Tuesday.
Five buildings were levelled and
approximately 300 planes were
either destroyed or damaged be
yond repair. Also destroyed were
1000 plane batteries and nearly
200 tires and propellers for the
1200 planes stored in the field.
