Boudreau Gives Nod
To Yanks or Red Sox
. HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP
Lou Boudreau figures that pitch
ing and Joe Gordon give the
Cleveland Indians a "good chance"
for their first pennant in 27 years.
But to win, the youthful Tribe
manager pointed out, the Indians
will have to beat out the New
York Yankees and Boston Red
Sox, the club's which Boudrea
fives a "slight edge."
However, Boudreou went on,
"Any team that can win eight or
ten games in a row will be right
up there at the top of the heap."
Boudreau said he rated the
Yanks and Red Sox as having an
edge because of a break in the
schedule, whereby the loop's east
ern clubs play almost the entire
month of September at home,
while Cleveland and Detroit, the
western contenders, must finish
the campaign on the road.
With Feller, Harder, Ed
Klieman, Al Gettel and the un
predictable Steve Gremek topping
a strong mound staff, Boudreau
figures to be able to withstand the
avalanche of late season double
headers better than most other
American League clubs.
And then there's Gordon "the
greatest second baseman in the
fame today" in Boudreau's opin
ion. But Lou didn't say anything
about his own healthy batting
mark nor his own worth to the
club".

Accountant Avers
May Given Money ,
WASHINGTON U.R A Chi
cago public accountant testified
Friday that munitions maker
Henry M. Garsson told him in the
winter of 1945 he had advanced
money to former Congressman
Andrew J. May to get the Cum
berland Lumber Co. started.
The testimony was given at the
May-Garsson bribery trial by
Alexander Ulenberg, called by the
government as a rebuttal witness.
He told of a conversation with
Garsson while they were riding
from Elgin, 111., to Chicago.
. Garsson has denied that such a
conversation took place.
Ulenberg said Garsson told him
Cumberland was a firm in which
May . was interested,, that he
(Garsson) wanted to help May
get it under way and so had ad
vanced money for the project. He
said Garsson told him he expected
to get his money back through
lumber deliveries by the company.

Egg Within Egg
An egg within an egg was dis
covered Friday by Mrs. Jack Nu
delman when she broke an egg for
cooking. The first egg was com
plete with yoke, and also held a
fair-sized pullet egg with hard
shell.
It was produced by a Rhode Is
land Red pullet belonging to Ed
ward G. Quigley, poultry farmer,
INudelman said. He also said he
has found several triple-yoked
eggs among those purchased.

General to Join
Freedom Move.
BEHNE. Switzerland (U.B
Gen. Ladislas Jekely, general sec
retary of the Hungarian Small
holders Party, and minister to two
countries, said Friday he had sev
ered connections with the Buda
pest government and would leave
for the United States to join- for
mer Prime Minister Ferenc Nagy.
"I am going to Join Nagy in his
fight for a free Hungary," Jekely
said.
He said he had wired President
Zoltan Tildy on Thursday resign
ing his official duties and that he
would not return to Hugary.
(Budapest dispatches said Jekely
reportedly had informed Tildy he
no longer could serve the new
government "because it had lost
its freedom as a result of the com
munist maneuver.")
Trans - World Airlines said
Jekely was scheduled to leave Gen
eva Saturday.
Jekely said in a written state
ment to the United Press that the
conspiracy charges against Nagy
were "ridiculous and not taken
seriously by any part of the Hun
garian people." ,
