In Recent Rite

Church of Christ was the scene
June 5 of the , wedding of Miss
Claudia Mae Van Prooyan to Vir
gil L. Swope of Omaha, Neb. The
Rev. Floyd Hughes read the serv
ice. The bride, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Abe Van Prooyan. of
Creswell, Route One, was given in
marriage by her father.
She wore white satin, her fin
ger tip veil, edged with lace, was
held by orange blossoms. She car
ried an arm bouquet of pink rose
buds and stephanotis- centered
with gardenias. She wore pearls
which had been worn by her
mother at the latter's wedding.
' Her msid of honor, Miss Daisy
Ann Chapman, wore aqua net and
carried a nosegay of carnations
dyed to match, with center of gar
denias. Miss Glenna Gregg of
Turlock, Cal., was the bridesmaid.
She wore pink net and carried
pink carnations with gardenia
centers.
Miss Barbara Lemert lighted
the candles and Nyla Gayle Guth
rie in yellow satin was the flower
girl.
Charles Richards of Omaha,
Nebr., was best man. and ushers
were Clifford Van Prooyan, bro
ther of the bride and Brenton
Chapman. , '
Baskets of white regal lilies and
blue delphiniums with lighted
candles were church decorations.
'Mrs. Floyd Hughes sang "Be
cause." and Mr. and Mrs. Hughes
sang a duet Wedding marches
were played by Mrs. Charles M.
Richards.
A reception was held In the
church parlors. Mrs. Mack Har
pole, aunt of the bride, served
cake and Mrs. Arthur Guthrie,
Mrs. A. V. Thompson, Mrs. Bren
ton Chapman and Mrs. Floyd
Hughes cut ices and presided at
the punch bowl.
The couple left on a trip to
Oregon and California coasts and
will visit the bridegroom's par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Swope,
in Omaha. For going away, the
bride wore a blue print crepe and
the corsage from her wedding bou
quet, grey coat and white acces
sories. .
Both are students at the San
Jose Bible school in California
and the bridegroom is a student
minister.
Ceremony Weds
Halsey Couple
HALSEY In a double-ring
ceremony at the William Kenyon
home, June 1, at two o'clock oc
curred the marriage of Miss Bon
nie Jean Nelson to Clifford Ken
yon. An improvised altar of gar
den flowers was arranged. The
Rev. W. O. Jones officiated.
Keith Mitzner played the wed
ding march. '
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father. Max Nelson.
She wore a light blue tailored suit
with black accessories and carried
a white Bible mnrked with a
white orchid and white satin
streamers.
Miss Beverly Nelson was her
sister's attendant, wearing a peach
colored afternoon dress with white
accessories and corsage of white
carnations and stephanotis. Wayne
Kenyon was best man for his
brother.
At the reception following the
ceremony, Miss Lucille Villanueva
cut the wedding cake, Mrs. Cline
Farthing, aunt of the bridegroom,
presided at the punch bowl, , and
Mrs. Harold Hollis poured cof
fee. The young couple made a
trip to Crater Lake and Oregon
beaches. They will live at Halsey.
