The Blind Merchant In the Public Market
Easter Buying
Spree Hits Stride
By UNITED PRESS
The nation's easter shopping
spree was in full swing Thursday.
The sale of Easter finery, candy !
and flowers was setting records in
many cities.
A survey showed, however, that
in some - sections the volume of
sales was below last year's boom,
despite fewer shortages. j
The dollar volume of sales was
higher almost everywhere, be
cause of higher prices.
The slower pace of sales in some
cities was attributed to the fact
that Easter comes two weeks I
earlier this year, and to unfavor
able weather which has deterred
women from buying flowered hats ;
and light costumes.
