children in Lane county has been
made by pupils ot the Dorena
grade school, who sold $2882.30. In
bonds and stamps on one day re
cently. There are 62 children in
the school, representing a per
capita sale of approximately
$46.50. N '
The students had hoped only to
sell $900 in bonds and stamps,
enough to buy a jeep. x
Oris Steele, principal, reports
that the children collected two
tons in a paper drive, and 4,133
pounds in the first scrap metal
drive. In their current scrap metal
and rubber drive they have al
ready gathered together 7,175
pounds. In the recent tin can con
test, they collected 2,570 cans, and
are still working.
