At the republican meeting, Hunt
ington told the group a real Job
was ahead and not to regard any
candidate aa a cinch to be elected.
He urged greater effort on the part
of precinct committeemen and
committeewomen during the cam
paign. James A. Rodman, Earl Hill,
Dr. M. C- Harris, and F. G. Stick
els, the latter two both past county
chairmen, all gave pep talks.
At the democratic meeting, a
resolution was passed supporting
all democratic candidates in the
coming election and urging demo,
crata to get out and vote for their
party candidates. In the county
election, the democrat now have
a full ticket, several write-in can
didates having accepted the nom
ination. Including Judd Stauffer,
who la running for county treas
urer; Ethan L. Newman, who Is
running for atate senator from
Lane county; and Mrs. Hester
Reed, who is running for state
representative from Lane county.

Germans Advance
In Kharkov Fighting
MOSCOW, Sunday, June 21
WO The Germans continued last
night to batter Sevastopol with
some 130,000 men and hundreds
of planes and tanks and at the
same time registered a new ad
vance In a revival of fighting on
the Kharkov front, the Russions
announced early today.
"Our heroic defenders are re
pulsing the enemy attacka day

munique said of the battle for
Sevastopil. which has reached a
peak of violence with the Ger
mane making a mighty effort to
break Into the Black sea naval
base.

down safely although the rudder and elevator were almost
shot away, as shown, in action over Sidi Rezech. The plane

open this year July 5, it was an
nounced by local icout leaders

The first period will extend from
July g through July 18, and the,
second will be from July IS ,
through July 28. j
Hiking will be one of the prin
cipal features of this year's camp '
program. Trips are scheduled to

phant Rock, Tenas lake, Huckle- i
berry mountain, Lava Lake, the;
Middle Sister, Scott lake and many
other short hikes up and down

Two Car Accidents
Reported By Police
Saturday'e police records con
tained reports of two car acci
dents. In one, cars driven by E. A.
Henien, 1000 River Road, and Rob
ert V. Rodgers, route 1. Eugene,
collided at the corner of Fifth
avenue and Chamelton street at
4 OS p. m. June IB. Both machines
were damaged, but no one was
injured.
In the other, Kathleen Moore of
17! East Broadway and T- E.
Crook, 12T8 Eighth avenue west,
were drivers of cars Involved in a
collision at Eighth and Washing
ton. Mr. Crook received head in
juries, which necessitated his re
moval to the hospital
