Class Meeting
The Condon P.-T. A. sponsored
Red Cross instruction class will
meet at the school building Wed
nesday from 1:15 to 3:15 p. m. In
etruetton will be given in home
nursing and first aid, an instructor
to meet with the group from the
Red Cross office. The Condon
school unit is the first to sign up
for this work, 40 having already
designated their intention to take
the course. If more are interested
another clas likely will be form
ed, an evening one. The class is
open to alt of the district inter
ested. Teacher Groups to Meet
The one-room teachers' and the
elementary principals' groups will
hold their regular meetings Satur
day. The one-room teachers will
meet at the Penney store com
mittee room at 10 a. m. Dr. Har
old Bernard of the . university
school of education will lead the
discussion on "The Retarded
Child." The elementary princi
pals will meet for a potluck din
ner at the Bethel school at 6:30
p. m. Principals and grade teach
ers are invited. They are asked to
take along a meat dish, a salad or
dessert.
Eureneans Install Officers
Mr. and Mrs. Judd Stauffer of
Eugene acted as installing offic
ers for several camp and aux
iliaries of the United Spanish War
Veterans in different parts of the
state last week. They were at
Oregon City, Salem, Portland, Me
Minnville and Roseburg. Mr.
Stauffer is past department com
mander of the camps and Mrs.
Stauffer is this year department
president of the auxiliaries.
Tuberculin Tests Given
Tuberculin testing surveys have
been concluded during the past
month in the schools of Eugene,
Cottage Grove, Marcola, Triangle
Lake and Florence. In Eugene
1114 persons were tested with 47
positive reactors, Cottage-Grove
had 371 taking the test with 33
showing a positive reaction, Mar
cola had 60 taking the test with
one positive reactor.-

dents will be started at the high
school in the- evenings if there is
sufficient demand. Anyone inter

nesday evening, at 8 o'clock at

Floe Barns Out
A flue fire in a fraternity house
at Bit Eleventh avenue east called
out a fire truck at 8 a. m. Tuesday.
The fire caused no damage.
Another flue fire occurred Monday
at 11:03 a. m. at the residence of
Roy Kinney, 331 Monroe.
Case Worker Transferred
Everett Horrell, one of the case
workers of the Lane county pub
lie commission, has been trans
ferred to Linn county. His place
is being taken by Miss Grace Jack
son, who has been training for the
work in Portland for several
months.
Lumberman in City
Roy Swenson, lumberman of
Switshome, was in Eugene Mon
day, conferring with the county
court regarding the use of roads
for logging. The court Saturday
made an order prohibiting the use
of the roads for that purpose for
several days.

Miss Helen Cowgill, assistant
state club leader, was in Lane
county from the state college at
Corvallis Tuesday visiting schools
in company with R. C. Kuehner,
county club leader.

branch of the Lane county Red
Cross chapter met at the school
gymnasium Monday evening. It
was decided to hold a business
meeting the evening of the first
Monday in each month. . Commit
tees appointed were: first aid. Mrs.
Robert Rust chairman and Mrs.
Gingery, Mrs. Rust to choose three
ethers, one from each community
represented in the organization.
