Police, Fire Reserves
Meet Monday In Armory
SPRINGFIELD, Dec. 20. (Spe
cial) An important meeting of
the Springfield civilian police and
fire reserves will be held at the
armory Monday, December 22, at
7:30 p.m.
Blackout assignment and sta
tions for both organizations will
be given out at this meeting.
Roy Woodruff, of Eugene, will
speak on the air raid warden pro
gram. Chiefs Finucane and Joliff
are in hones that Herschel Taylor,
county commander of the civilian
reserve, will also be at the meet
ing to talk to the corps.
Methodist Services
Feature Choir Program
SPRINGFIELD, Dec. 20. (Spe.
cial) Regular Christmas services
of the Ebbert Memorial Methodist
church will feature a special
Christmas sermon by Rev. Harry
Crouse and special music.
A children's program will be
put on by the several departments
of the Sunday school at 9:45 a.m.
Sunday evening, December 21,
the church choir will present a
Christmas and sacred concert pro.
gram. The presentation is sched'
uled for 7:30 p.m.
The evening program wil open
with an organ prelude followed
by the invocation by Rev. Mr.
Crouse. The junior choir will give
two numbers and Mrs. Edward
Renkin will sing a soprano solo,

Springfield Girl Scouts
Plan Holiday Party
SPRINGFIELD, Dec. 20. (Spe
cial) All Springfield Girl Scouts
are invited to the Scout House on
Tuesday evening, December 23,
at 7 o'clock, for a parly. The sen
ior Girl Scouts will act as hostesses.
Refreshments will be served.
Each troop will contribute to the
entertainment wun pantomimes,
skits and songs.
According to Mrs. N. A. Chaffee
there is plenty of material on hand
at Mrs. Larson Wright's for the
new uniforms. All of the troops'
national dues should be paid im
mediately. Troops. 5, 6, and 8 are
the only ones which have paid so
far.
Christian Church Plans
Sunday School Pageant
SPRINGFIELD. Dec. 20. (Spe
cial) The Sunday school of the
Christian church will present a
pageant, "The Garden "of Christ
mas Happiness," by Mattie B
Shannon, Sunday morning, De.
cember 21, during the Sunday
school hour. In the pageant will be
songs by the beginners, primary
department, and the choir, made
up from intermediate and high
school classes. The pageant is be
ing directed by Mrs. Marjorie Tay
lor and Mrs, Mary Warner. White
guts for the White Swan mission
will be brought.
Members of the Bible school
classes, which start at 10 a.m., will
also bring white gifts for the In
dian mission at White Swan, Wash
Regular preaching service will
begin at 11 a.m. There will be spe
cial music by the choir, accompa'
nied on' the zylarimba by Mrs.
Alice Kendall.

JOINT INSTALLATION
SPRINGFIELD, Dec. 20. (Spe
cial) Springfield Oddfellows
lodge 70 and the Juanita Rebekah
lodge have decided to hold a joint
installation on Monday, January 5,
1942. This plan was decided upon
since both lodges' terms of office
start on approximately the same
date.
