Dr. Gardner Cannot
Leave Army Now
Dr. E. L. Gardner, Lane county
health officer, who is now with
the United States army, has writ
ten the county health department
that his expected release from the
army has been rescinded and he
will not be able to resume his
duties here as announced a few
days ago.
Dr. Gardner has been in the
service for the past year at Fort
McDowell,: Angel Island, Cal. It
is not known when he will be
able to return here, since , his re.
appointment in the army is for
an indefinite period of time. ,
Dr. N. Paul E. Anderson, who
has been acting county health
officer since Dr. Gardner left, will
continue in that capacity until he
is relieved. Recently he resigned,
