Saturdays sessions concluded
the business meetings of the con
ference. The appointments for
the coming year will be read Sun
day afternoon at 4:15 by Bishop
Baxter.
Dr. .Albert Edward Day, Pasa
dena, outstanding Methodist
clergyman, Friday evening blamed
continuous upheavals in the world
upon the tendency of people to
follow the crowd, accept the com
monplace, and think the worst of
others. Dr. Day's speech climaxed
the day's program for the three-
day annual Methodist conference
meeting here.
Dr. Day challenged his audience
to be different, 'non-conformists,"
and denounced those who uphold
a theory while it is popular and
drop it as another idea becomes
more popular. To be in style with
the popular always means to be
out of style with God, the speaker
declared.
The Pasadena clergyman urged
those present to look at life with
greater expectation than before.
Such an attitude will make life
the event it ought to be, he said.
Dr. Day struck at the "prevail
ing trend" which leads people to
profess a belief in God but deny
that belief by their actions. Peo
ple seem to think that God is
'something operating by remote
control when in reality finding
God is like turning to ones In
ward thoughts, he averred.
Cure for the present situation
is a "change of mind," the con
ference speaker declared. People
must banish their "earthly mind
and take on a spiritual mind: You
change your mind and God will
change you," Dr. Day added.
