Of Yachats Dies
Albert A. Stonefield, 73. of Ya
chats, died Sunday at 1253 Char
nelton street. He was born July 0,
1867, near Madison, wis., and wnen
a child, moved to South Dakota
with his Darents. He married Min
nie Hurry, and went to xacnais m
1928.
Survivors are four daughters.
Mrs. Mabel Clingman of North Da
kota, Mrs. M. Connell of Detroit,
Mich.. Mrs. Otto Talus ot uoier-
aine, Minn., and Miss Genevieve
Stonefield of New Kinsington, Pa.;
one son, Bert of Yachats; one
brother, George of Yachats; one
sister, Mrs. Lizzie Green of La
vern, Minn.
Funeral services will be held
Tuesday at 2 p. m. with interment
in the Masonic cemetery at Flor
ence. The Poole chapel is in charge.,

education and recreation project

as a full time instructor of band
and orchestra in those communi
ties, it was learned Monday.

schools, Mr. Davidson has initiated
several groups into band and or
chestra work since his start there
a week ago, and he anticipates
"considerable progress" during
the coming winter months, ac

To the athletic world, Mr. Bor
leske is known as "Nig" Borleske.
He recently completed 25 years as
coach and director -of athletics at
Whitman college, and has been
honored by his own community
which voted to change the name
of the athletic field there from
Stadium field to Borleske field.
Mr. Bntieske was elected to the
office of district governor at the
1940 Rotary convention which
was held in Havana, Cuba, during
June, and will continue to serve
until the 1941 convention in Den
ver. The 5.000 Rotary clubs of
more than 60 countries of the
world are grouped in 149 districts.
The 101st district, of which the
Rotary club of Eugene is a part,
consists of 84 clubs located in
cities of Alaska. Oregon, Wash
ington. Idaho and British Colum
bia, and has a membership of ap
proximately 5400 Rotarians.

Monday on a charge of illegal pos

their second offense, the officers
said, and the usual first offense
