Benefit Dance Success
The benefit dance held recently
by the Fall Creek Community club
was a success, the committee in
charge reports. The committee is

Veteran Goes to Hospital
Nelson Perkins of Goldson, who
has been receiving treatment at
the Sacred Heart hospital for some
time past, was taken to the United
States veterans' hospital in Port
land Wednesday. He is a veteran of
the Spanish-American war. He
was taken to Portland by Allen
Hart.

Mr. and Mrs. Myron E. Jones
stopped in Eugene for a visit at
he home of Mrs. Jones' father,
Dr. E. T. Helms, Tuesday, on
their way to San Francisco. Mr.
Jones is deputy sheriff of Clat
sop county and is on his way to
California to take back a prison-
Gets Five Dog Licenses
J. L. Sullivan, Creswell RFD1,
was at the county clerk's office
Tuesday to obtain the 1939 li
cense on his five dogs. Mr. Sul
livan has a large flock of sheep
and keeps the dogs to guard them
from predatory animals and rov
ing town dogs.
State Teachers to Meet
Many of the Lane county teach
ers are planning to attend the an
nual meeting of the Oregon State
Teachers' association, to be held
in Portland December 28, 29, and
30. L. C. Moffitt, county superin
tendent, also plans to attend ths
sessions.
Returns to Roseburg
Mrs, T. H. Ness has returned
to her home in Roseburg follow
ing a four-day visit in Eugene
with her son-in-law and daugh
ter, Mr. and Mrs. A, L, Hawn,
and family. She was joined here
by her daughter, Miss Virginia
Ness, who is a student at the
Portland university nurses
school.

The Christmas program of the
Lighthouse Temple Sunday

Lane County Medical society
will be given Wednesday from
8:15 to 8:30 o'clock. Dr. W. B.

O. D. McAUster of Eugene spent
Sunday at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. L, J. Crafton in Roseburg. Mr.
McAUster and Mr. Crafton are

Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Lord are
leaving for Long Beach, Cal., to
visit Mr. Lord's sister, Mrs. E. K.
Taylor. They will return by Jan

Attend Funeral
Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Wagy were
called to Portland Saturday by the
illness of Mr. Wagy's mother, who
died Sunday, Funeral services were
held at Rose and Sons' chapel Wed
nesday in Portland.
Rebuilding Bridge
The county bridge over Bear
creek at Bear Creek station west
of Junction City on the High
Pass road is being rebuilt by a
county crew. It will be a piling
bridge 50 feet long.
Secretary on Vacation
W. F. Mumm, secretary of Spen
cer Butte lodge of the Odd Fel
lows, is in Seattle on a week's va
cation. John Starr is taking his
place while he is absent.
Flue Fire
Firemen were called to the home

Two complete jungle villages
were built by more than 150 car
penters and landscape gardeners,

vision of Jack Holt, for use In the
Columbia star's latest action
drama, "Flight Into Nowhere."
The film, which opens at the May
flower theatre for a two-day run
beginning Friday, is set in the
South American jungles, in which
Mr. Holt had, during vacations
from Hollywood, conducted sev
eral big game expeditions. An au
