TURKEYS RELEASED
- COTTAGE GROVE, Nov. 21.
Special) Saturday was turkey
day in Cottage Grove and was a
success from, all standpoints as
evidenced from the large crowd
on Main street. The Boost Cot
tage Grove committee of the
chamber of commerce released a
number 6f live turkeys from the
roof of the -Irish Swart store
which became the property of the
persons who caught them. Mayor
Morelock released the birds. Six
turkeys with hundreds of reaching
hands who. were intent on pluck
ing their Thanksgiving dinner out
of the air, was an interesting
spectacle to onlookers. By the
time the birds were captured they
Were minds a gotfd rnahy feathers.
Among the lucky ones were Ray
Vincent, Mr. Tarr, Walter Fox,
Mr. Purcell The hirrls .were re'
leased at intervals from 2:30 to
4:30.

Ralph Schrader, of Spokane, Wn.,
have arrived for a fortnight's visit
with Mrs. Schrader's brother-in-law

mile east of Bellfountain.
Mrs. Ralph Malcom and sons.
Robert Lynn, Lawrence Gene and
Billy, have returned home from a
week's visit with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Martin Jensen, of Salem.

(Special) The Bellfountain La
dies' Aid held a brief business
meeUng recently in conjunction
with the Quilting club. The meet
ing was conducted by the presi
dent. Mrs. Maude Lamb. It was
reported that approximately tlOO
was taken in at the dinner given
last week at the school gymna
sium. It was estimated that about
$75 was cleared, which will be
used for a new carpet for the
rostrum and the general upkeep
of the church. Mrs. F. A. Nua-
baum. Mrs. H. F. Irvin and Mrs
Garth Riekard. were appointed to
elect and purchase the carpet.
About 20 ladies were present at
the meeting-.

cial) The Parent-Teachers' Asso
ciation met recently In the high
school gymnasium," and due to the
absence of E. A. Brittain, county
4-H cliib leader who was to speak
the program was given by mem
bers of the student body. The
program was as follows: three
numbers by the girls' gleo club;
a violin solo by Velda Kelson; tap
dance. Thyllis Parks, with Rebecca
Butler as accompanist for each
number. A talk on books by Mrs.
Lulu Gorrell and a display of book
jackets of new books in the school
library concluded the program,
after which the business, meeting
was held with the vico-president

Auxiliary Will Give
Christmas Parly
REEDSPORT, Now. 21. (Spe
cial) At the A. F. of L. union
auxiliary meeting held last week
in the American Legion hall, plans
were made for a joint Christmas
party to be given by Local 2624.
A. F. of L union and Ha auxiliary.
Funds for the party will be raised
at a dance to be given Friday
evening. November 1 tor all
union and auxiliary members and
their friends.
Following the business meeting
a roll-call program was given and
prizes awarded Mrs. Roy Taylor
and Mrs. Merle Wnrren for the
best stunts. Lunch was served by
Mrs. Fred Huppi, Mrs. Fred Sol
lars. Mrs. A. A. SL Onge and Mrs.
Merle Warren.

the newly elected executive board
