son of Aumsville went to the coast
this week to. spend a few days
fishing on the Nesticca river north
west of Dallas.
Several local Rebekahs went to
Lebanon Saturday afternoon to at
tend the district convention. The
local lodge exemplified "examin
ing a visitor from another jurisdic
tion." All enjoyed dinner there
and the group was visited in the
evening by Orin W. Frum who
came over for dinner and the eve
ning meeting. Among those going
were Mrs. Nelle Frum, Mrs. Nora
Coleman, Mrs. Fred Robins, Mrs.
Muriel Robins, Mrs. Sadie Gansle,
Mrs. Nora Isom, Mrs. Melissa Mc
Mahan, Mrs. Hattie Peterson, Mrs.
Esther F. Bond and her guest,
Mrs. Anna Kruse of Winsonville
who came to attend the convention
and to spend the week-end visiting
in the Bond home.

Glen Hills buzzed slab wood this
week for Everett Brown, S. H.
Putnam, John Sloan and Glen
Putnam. The wood was recently
delivered by Melvin Couch from
the Walterville Lumber company.
An automatic step for trailers,
arranged to slide into place when
the door is opened, is now on the
market. When the door is closed,
the step slides out of sight under
the trailer.

Study Meeting
COTTAGE GROVE, Oct. 21.
(Special). The Tuesday evening
Study club reviewed the "book
"Marconi, the Man and His Wire
less" by Dunlap. Mrs. Dan Hamant
led discussion. Mrs. B. R. Job re
ported on the book "The Mother,"
by Grazia Gleddo.
The Bible school institute held at
me i irst Christian church, had an
enrollment of 41. A new program
has been arranged for future work,
an educational committee will be
appointed to head the entire edu
cational program. Modern equip
ment ana modern methods will be
used. C. F. Swander, state Bible
school superintendent of Church of
Christ in Oregon, conducted the
institute.

Clayton Allum has his new bar
bershop in the Jarnagin building
on Main street opened and is ready
for business. Mr. Allum former
ly operated the barbershop in the
Osburn hotel in Eugene.
Requirements of an American
thoroughbred horse are that the
pedigree contains S uncontaminat
ed crosses. The average pedigree
traces through 16 to 18 crosses,
however, and some have as many
as 25.

The Neighborly Neighbor club
met at the home of Mrs. Albert
Funke, Tuesday afternoon. Two
new members. Mrs. Harold Funke
and Mrs. Tilts, were taken into
the club. The members took nn a
collection and raised $3.70 to con
tribute to the "iron lung" fund.
The birthday anniversary of
Mrs. J. S. Green was remembered
at the meeting with a tea towel
shower.
Visitors for the afternoon were
Mrs. Hubert Hill, of Marcola, and
Mrs. Lilly Masterson of The Dalles.
Refreshments were served to Mrs.
Hubert Hill, Mrs. Lilly Masterson,
Mrs. Harold Funke, Mrs. Tilts,
Mrs. J. S. Green, Mrs. T. Q. Green,
Mrs. Will Smith, Mrs. Marion

In Lamar, Colorado, the oldest
gasoline station in the world ex
ists. The station itself is. quite
modern, but its building material
is estimated to be 175.000,000 years
old. It was constructed of petri
fied wood, gathered from a pre
historic forest south of Lamar.
