grange Tueaday evening waa on tha

work at the cannery.
Mrs. J, I. Hart haa returned to
her home after visiting her aon-ln-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrt. Will
Robinson at their summer home near
Lornne.
Mr. and Mrs. O. K. Bnlwln and
daughter, Lucille, returned home Sun
day from a four-day trip to Newport.
Home from Vacation
Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Monger have
returned homo from a week's vaca
tion at Crater Lake and other
points of interest.
Rev. Sims of Medford spent two
days this week visiting friends and
relatives in Eugene and Santa Clara.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Reifel and little
daughter of Pierre, South Dakota
are vlaltlng Mrs. Kclfel's brother-in-
law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Victor
Fetteraon, until the first of Sep
tember. R. L. Young of Aberdeen, Wash
ington, left Monday after a week's
visit with his slater, Mrs. M. A.
Matteson, and brothers in Spring
field. Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Schonheln of
Portland spent the week-end visiting
with Mra. Schonbeln's mother, Mrs.
Matteaon.
Mrs. J. S. Forcum was hostess to
the Santa Clara Thimble club Wed
nesday afternoon. There were 12
members present. During the busi
ness meeting It was voted to hold i
picnic next Wednesday evening at
6:30 on the lawn at the home of
Mr. and Mra. B. 0. Vogt. The host
ess was assisted in serving refresh
ments by her daughter, Delores, and
Mildred Sederlin.
Miss Frances Brown of Corvallis,
a guest of Edward Vogt, spent the
week-end at the borne of Mr. and
Mrs. B. 0. Vogt.

At a joint meeting of the directors
of the Creswell schools Wednesday
evening the date of Sept. 1-1 waa set
for the opening of school. New sup
plies were allowed for both grades and
high achool. The book rentals were
arranged as Inst year and those in ar
rears on Isst year's rentals must pay
up before other books will be Issued
for this year. The building waa re
ported in fine shnpo for the new
school year.

usual busineKS was transacted
at the regular meeting of the Town-
send club Tuesday evening. The
treasurer reported that all expenses
of the delegate to the national conven
tion at Cleveland, Ohio, had been
paid.

Members of Creswell grange will
meet Sunday morning at 10 o'clock to
go to the joint picnio with Porena
grange up Row River. Those having
cars are requested to call at the hall
for those who have no way of going.
Lester Taylor left Thursday for San
Mateo, Oil., after a two weeks' visit
at the home of his psrenta, Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Taylor. He waa accom
panied by bla aunt, Mra. Ida John
Mton of Wbittier, Cal.
Dr. and Mrs. 0. H. Atwood and
daughter, Mra. Herbert Kuykendall,
and children Teressa and George of
wenuling were callers Wednesday art-
ornoon at the home of Rev, and Mra,

The Garden club will meet Monday
afternoon, Aug. 2-1, at tha borne ef
Mrs. Clara Trailer. All members
arc requested to bring a contribution
