Patrick McCarvel, 88, died Wednes
day evening at the hoane nf his daugh
ter, Mrs. Henry Pnpe, 427 E. 13. Ho
waB born March 6. 1847, in Ireland,
and came to the United States 35
yeara ago. He had been a resident
of Eugene for the past 10 years.
He was a member of St. Mary s
Catholic church. Survivors include
one son and six daughters. A rosiiry
will be said for Mr. SIcCarvel at the
Branstetter-Simon chapel Thursdny

sent to Anaconda, Montana, for inter

in the opening event this morning of
the Oregon State trnpshoot. Tbe
first round of the Junior and eenior
skeet event was shot off. The boy
entrant were Glenn Bradley, 14, o
Pendleton. Clair Miller, 12, of Cor
vallls, and Ernest Carston, Jr.. of
Camino, Oal.
Jesse Troch of Eugene, was the
leading senior entry in the skeet com
petition, the second round of which
will be run off this afternoon.
Young Bradley this morning broke
20 out of a possible 25. The Miller
boy broke 15 of the posible 25.
Main shotgun events will start Fri
day morning, and conclude Saturday.
No events are lusted for this after
noon. The time will be devoted to
impromptu practice by the more than
200 entrants.
