Mrs. E. E. Smith presented a group
of her piano students In a recital at
her home Saturday afternoon from 3
to 4. Parenta and frienda of the

Christmas programs take the lead
in events being planned by Oakridee
organisation during the week. The
Methodist community church will have
a program in place of the regular
Sunday sohool at 11 o'clock Sunday
morning. A Christmas tree with
treats for all the children will be fea
tured. In the evening there will be
a pageant, "The Other Wise Man,"
presented by members of the church.
The I. 0 O. F. and the Uebeknh
lodeea will have their annual Christ
mas party at their hall Saturday even
ing. A potluck aupper will be served
at 6:30 with a program and tree fol
lowing. The affair Is for members
of the lodges and their families.
Each room at the grade sohool will
have a trimmed Christmas tree and
at the close of school Friday after
noon a gift exchange will be enjoyed.
The school is also putting on a Christ
i mas nronram nt tho high school audi
torium, Saturday evening at 7:30.
Each room will present a Christmas
play. Everyone Is invited to attend.
A Christmas assembly which will fea.
ture Christmas music sung by the
glee climbs will be put on by the high
sohool student body, Friday afternoon
' at two o'clock. The schools will be
' dismissed Friday afternoon until Jan.

cials from over the county. The
meeting was held in the city hall.

Peanut Butter Bran Bread
V4 cup peanut butter '
ij cup sugar
1 egg
l'j cups milk
1 cup bran
2 cups flour
5 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon suit
1 cup seedless raisins
Method: Crenm the peanut butter
and sugar together, add the well beat
en egg and the milk. Mix the bran,
sifted flour, baking powder and salt
and add with the raisins. Mix well.
Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake
in a moderate oven for 1 hours at

1 cup brown sugar
2 unbeaten eggs
1 pinch snlt
1 cup chopped dates.
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup chopped peanuts or any kind.
Mix all this together and spread
this mixture in in. layer in greased
pan. Bake in alow oven 300 degreea
F. 30-40 minutes. Remove from pan
and turn on a cake rack cut in 1-inch
squares, dust with powdered sugar
when cool. Thla makes 2 dozen. They
nro very nice for ten and keep for
weeks, the older the better they get.

Peanut Bread
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1 cup augar
1 teaspoon salt '
2 cups flour 1
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup chopped peanuta
Soak peanut butter in the milk for
hour, add sugar, well beaten eggs,
flour, baking powder, aalt and nuta
and bake In slow oven about 25 min

Chopped peanuta
Pastry
Roll paste very thin. Place on In
verted baking tin. Brush half with
peanut butter thinned with lemon
juice. Cover with the other half and
with a aharp knife mark in atrips
four inches long and one inch wide.
Set in a quick oven. When baked,
brush with white of egg diluted with
one tesspoon of cold wster and sprin
kle with finely chopped peanuta. Re
turn to the oven for about three min
utes until the nuts are slightly crisp
ed, then cut apart. Excellent with

1 cup macaroni cooked in boiling
salted water 20 minutea or until ten
der; drain in colander, then pour over
1 quart of cold water. Now put in
baking dish, heat 2 cups milk in dou
ble boiler, add S'A teaspoons of pea
nut butter, 1 teaspoon of salt, pour
over maenroni and cover, bake 40
minutes, then take off cover and
sprinkle over it 3-4 cup of buttered
crumbs and bake to a nice brown.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Sand
wich Spread
4 tablespoons peanut butter
7 tablespoons ground chocolate
1 cup granulated sugar
cup hot water
1 tablespoon butter
Dash of cinnamon
teaspoon vanilla.
Dissolve the ground chocolate in the
hot water and bring to the boiling
point, then add the augar, peanut but
tor, butter and salt. Cook until slight
ly thickened, then add vanilla and bent
till thick enough to spread. The fill
ing should be of the consistency of a
very soft fudge. Spread between slices
of buttered brown bread. Nice to
serve for afternoon tea when the cake

3 egg yolks
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 tablespoon flour or cornstarch
3-4 cups augar
Vi cup water
Mix flour, augar, butter, eggs, pea
nut butter and a few grains of aalt
wtih water and cook until it thickens.
Pour into baked crust and add merin
gue. Brown in slow oven ten minutes.

2 cups sugar
3-4 cup shortening
cup peanut buttei
1 cup chopped peanuta
3 eggs beaten
Vi teaspoon soda
3 cups breed flour
Cream peanut butter, sugar and
shortening until light. Add beaten
eggs. Sift flour and soda, mix with
peanuts and mix all together thor
oughly. Place spoonfuls of mixture on bak
ing tin about an Inch apart, flatten
with spatula and put half peanut meat

Jimmy spent the week-end in Eugene
as guests of Mr. Hill's mother. They
attended services at Santa Clara and
in Eugene and enjoyed the Christmas
concert of the University Polyphonic
choir, Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Elmer Eckstrand and daugh
ter Belva of Seattle arrived Friday
evening to spend a few days at the
home of Mr. and Mra. Cleveland No
land and family. Mrs. Eckstrand U a
niece of Mra. Noland.
Mr. and Mrs. H. F. St. Clair snd
baby and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Wess
ner were in Eugene and Cottage Grove
Saturday. Returning with them from
Cottage Grove was Mr. St. Clair's
mother, who expects to spend the
holidays with her relotives here.
Mrs. L. K. Posvar and children,
Betty and Charles, and Mra. Fred
Swanson and daughter Marion were
present for the piano recital and tea
at the home of Mrs. E. E. Smith In
Oakridge, Saturday afternoon, the
children taking part in the recital.
