COTTAGE GROVE, Nov. 21.
(Special). "Songs in the Night" was
the theme of a program given at the
Presbyterian church Sunday evening.
A full choir of Hi was present and
led in the musical part of the serv
ice. The patter arranged a list of
songs voicing the songs that may
come to men and womcu as they are
called on to pass through the hard ex
periences of life which are repre
sented by the darkness of night. Many
of them were the old familiar hymns
of the church, which the congrega
tion joined in singing. The full list is
follows: "lht' i Dying in the
West," "Abide With Mo Fast Fall
the Even Tide,' "Songs in the Night."
These three introductory to tho mes
sage by the pastor who presented the
nights that need a song, if It is not to
be a night of despair. The following
songs were interspersed through the
talk: A song of forgiveness, "I Will
Sing the Womlros Story;" a song of
freedom, "I Sing Because I'm Free;"
a song of strength, "Grace Enough
for Me;" a tone of victory, "Faith is
the Victory;" a song of comfort
"Never Give Vp;" a song of assur
ance, "Blessed Assurance;" a song of
peace, "Near to the Heart of God;
a song of joy, "He Gives Me Joy;"
sons of hope, "My Hope is Built;"
song of immortality, '0h That Will
Be Glory for Me," Miss Edna Tear
son. director of the choir, sang "He
Gives Me Joy," and John Undmore,
of Eugene snug "His Eye is On the
Sparrow,"
The committees of scout troop IS
met recently and laid plans for the
forward program of scouting in the
city. Mr. Halderman was chosen as
scoutmaster and M. C. Hickenbottmn
and Al Schofstal as assistants for the
remainder of the sioting sear. No
meeting was held Tuesday evening but
will meet on Tuesday. Nov. 117. All

asked to have their work done and
reports on it to the scout officials.
