Road Machinery Moved
The county's caterpillar "60" has
been moved to a road project west of
Cottage Grove to do some grading.
This road will be surfaced with rock
from a crusher on the Veatrh place
in that locality, according to P. M.
Morse, county engineer. The crusher
at McKenzie Bridge is being moved to
the Spicer place at Marcola and will
be located at a gravel bar on the Mo
hawk where it will get out road main
tenance rock.

With Big Picnic of
Building Congress
A number of Eugene firms have
contributed to a fund to pay the
expenses ot the Oregon Building
Congress' state buildors' day picnic
at Hatel Green park, five miles
north of Salem, Sunday. July 15,
according to U. Q. Hughson, field
man for tho congress, who was in
Eugene Thursday.
At the O. B. C. convention last
March a builders' day waa voted
and Profossor W. J. Gtlmore of the
state college and R. A. Myer of
Salem wore appointed as a com
mittee to carry out the plan for a
meeting ot bulldera, granges and
community clubs and their faro

with entertainment, games and
stunts.
The chorua of the Marion-Polk
county federated community cluba
will lead the outdoor singing, and
John B. Northman, Salem, horse
shoe fan, will have charge ot the
horseshoe contests. Dick Myers,

ner, will direct the games and
stunts. All grangers are being in

Spry Accused of
Reckless Driving
Alfred Spry of the Elmlra-Veneta
section was arrested Thursday on
arharge of reckless driving. He
pleaded not guilty In the Eugene
justice court and Judge Dan JJohn
ston set the trial for Thursday,
June 28, at 9:30 a. m.
Sury is accused ot driving hil
car into a band of sheep on the
road between Elmlra and Veneta,
Sunday and officers were) told that
four or five ot them were killed.
The sheep were owned by W, B,

and had lived In Portland for the past
82 years.
She is survived by her widower, B.
