The twelve man Laurelwood golf
team defeated the Oakway club 1814
to 17 Vj Sundny over the Laurelwood
course in the first of a home and
home series. The teams piny at Oak
way June 3.
Sunday's match at Laurelwood was
played from the championship tees,
adding approximately four hundred
yards to the length of the course.
This accounted for only three players
achievinc the seventies.
Medalist honors were shared by Jim
O'Connell and Bert Prescott, Sr.. both
of Laurelwood, with 77's. Onkwsy
medalista were George Evans, Joyce
Dutton and Harold Hull, all with
82's.

defeated the Benton Lane nine by a
score of 8 to 3.
The Grovers took a four run lead
in the first inning, and were never
threatened.
Shofstall, making his first sppear
ance in the Grove line-up, bit a home
run and a triple in two trips to the
piste, and R. Johnson, locnl pitcher,
connected for a double and triple in
four times up. He was forced to
leave the game in the eighth inning
when he atiBtained a sprained ankle
coming home.
The traveling Modern Woodmen
team of Eugene is to play at Cot
tage Grove next Sunday.
