OVERNIGHT TRIP

SPRINGFIELD NEWS NOTES
An overnight camplnu trip for the
ll-H forestry clubs of the county is
Mm: planned for July 20-27 by R.
a. Kuehner. club director.
The roup will so up the Willam
ette, probably below River'i Edge
campsite where the trip was made
last year. There are some 250 In the
forestry clnba of the county and last
year about 75 attended the ovcrnljnt
trip. The boya last year did some
work In Improvinr. the camp site and
other needed tasks and a similar pro
ram will be carried out this year.
It is planned to hare the boya go
to camp at 10 a. ra. July 20 anil atay
orerniuht, the girls to come up the
next day. As many fathers as possible
are being urged to go with their
boys. -
Eai'b boy la to take his own cook
ing and eating utensils as well as
food. Each club la to arrange for
transportation within Its member
ship, each boy sharing on the ex
pense of gas and oil. Each boy is to
take two blankets, the group airing
up after getting into camp.

gram that the boya be real forest
ers, The group will go up the Wil
lamette to Lowell bridge, then up the
main highway to Oakridge, following
the signs.
Further details on equipment and
food will be announced later by Mr.
Kuehner.
Contest On Fire
Control Is Begun
A contest Among 4-H elub boys
and girls of Lane ronnty to elimi
nate fire hazard of the fnrm and
home ha been launched, according
io R. C. Kuehner, county ebb agent.
The county contest ends October
35 and the state on October 31. The
county prize will be a gold badge
of honor to each boy and girl win
ners, and the state prize consists of
ttcholarships ta be awarded to each
the winning boy and girl. Certificates
of achievement will be written from
the statft fire chlf's office to be
ft-fTen each boy and girl completing
the project,

control In the bulletin include hand
extinguishers, ladders, water barrel
and pails, water under pressure and
hose, fire 'signals.
