Friday by H. R. Gould, city superin
tendent, in explaining a recent inter
pretation of school rnlea made ly the
board.
Under a rule passed by the board
In 1928 and not changed since that
time, the teachers receive this sick
leave If they desire. Recently some of
the teachers brought up the quention
, as to whether this leave accumulated
from year to year in the event it was
not used, thus giving a tracher 40
days at the end of four yen is in the
vent none of the leave bad been
taken.
When this question wai put to the
school board for an interpretation.
the board ruled that after three years,
teachers were entitled oniy to the
stated ten days a year, plus 20 duri
of the accumulated leave in the event
none had been taken up before. Tbere
fore, under the ruling, teachers were
not entitled to more than 30 days
sick leave any year after three years
service.
This interpretation cleared up the
matter of overpayments to teachers
who .had considered the leave accu
mulative every year, Goold explained.
This regulation was adopted by the
board Dec. 10, 1928.

of a new deacon were the principal

Roy Carlton was elected deacon for
the coming six years. This makes an
additional deacon in the church, and

turned to The Dallea today. The rep
reaentatiTe from the eastern Oregon
country died in Washinston, D. C,
last wefk after an illnesa during
which his heart waa weakened by a
prolonged attack of pneumonia. He
wan ? years old.
The body rested in state in the elric
auditorium throughout tin morning
hours and the early afternoon. Inter
ment took place at 3 p. m.
A delegation representing the sen
ate and boue of the Oregon legisla
ture joined the congressional party
which accompanied the body to But
ler's home.
It was his wish that he b buried
here rather than at his birthplace in
Butler, Johnson comity, Tenn.
