On the first line of the card the figure "24" to the right of the abbreviation
"Res" means 24 kilowatt hours of residential lighting, as indicated by the key
at the bottom of the card.
The figure "7" on the second line of the card at the right of the abbrevia
tion "wtr" means 700 cubic fect. The star refers to the footnote in the lower
right hand corner of the card, which says that "consumption of water is in hun

The "7" docs not mean just 7 cubic feet, but as stated in the footnote,
x 7 cubic feet, or 700 cubic feet.
If the figure in the "consumed" column were 30 cubic fect, the total amount
ouM be 100 x 30 cubic fect, or 3,000 cubic feet.

ACRIFICED
The Reason For This Great Sale :
The condition of the retail merchandising market is far from
being any secret in fact, EVERYBODY is well aware that
many merchants and manufacturers are in distress because
they have not been able to move their stocks.
We have contemplated some sort of sale for several months, but we have
waited, hoping that conditions would change and enable us to reduce our big
stocks without serious loss. But we have come to the conclusion that such
hopes for the immediate future are just like "chasing the rainbow" and de
cided to take DRASTIC ACTION in order to turn ONE HALF of this stock
into immediate cash. THEREFORE THIS BIG AUCTION.
