A family reunion of children, grand
children and great-grandchildren was
held at the home of Mra. Mary
Thompson Sunday, Sept. 33, honoring
Mrs. Thompson's a e v e n t y - eighth
birthday.
Mrs. Thompson was born on the
plains ns her parents were on their
way to the western country by ox
team, and has been a Hfe-lonj resident
of Yoncalla. She is the mother of
nine children, nil living with tho ex
ception of one.
Luncheon was served on the spa
cious porch of the home, the center
of attraction being a large birthday
cake made by one of tho daughters
and presented by the youngest grand
child, little Vera Thompson.

A hen's egg which resemblea

urday by W. W. Cadby, route 1,
Junction City.
The egg was about two inches
long. ie portion of it wos
round and almost as large as an
ordinary egg. Connected to
this by a mnall neck was a
smaller round portion, less than
half the size of the othr. The
egg was laid by a white leg
horn hen, but Mr. Cadby said
the hen had not laid any more
freak eggs since this one was
found. The egg had not been
opened to see whether the yolk
was double or not.

Garden Exhibit to
Start Wednesday
Miss Lucy Cae, nutrition specialist
at the state college, is in Eugene to
assist Miss Gertrude L. Skow, county
home demonstration agent, with an
exhibit of the year-round garden pro
jects conducted by SO women of
Lane county during the yenr. The
exhibit will ho held nt the First Na
tional bunk, beginning Wednesday.
Miss Skow, in co-operation with the
extension service in home economics
at the state srollcKC, directed the pro
jects In Lani county this yenr.
At this exhibit an effort will bo
mnde to tdiow the varieties of vege
tables that can bo raised in home gar
dens from the at midpoint of health
and economy, the idea being to try to
raise enough vegetables to Inst the
family throughout the entire yenr.
The xhjbit. will feature not only
the actuil varieties of veget allien
grown but. the materials available
