Program Postponed
The Modern Woodmen of Amoricn
had planned a program for next Mon
day nij;ht but it bas been postponed
indefinitely, according to announce
ment by otlicers of the camp.
Installation Planned
A point installation of the Modern
Woodman camp and Gitchell camp of
Royal Neighbors will be held on June
5. according to plans announced by
members of the two organizations.

SPRTNGFIELD, May 21. (Spe
cial Members of the Parent-Teachers
association will be hostesses to
teachers of Springfield schools Fri
day afternoon at a reception to be
held at Lincoln school. The affair
will follow the annual May day pro
gram. An address by Mrs. Ida Adams,
banjo trio by Bessie Stewart. Irene
Manley, and Barbara Bamell, and
solo by Mrs. John F. Ketels. accom
panied by Mrs. 1). B. Murphy, will
make up the program. Mrs. Walter
Iaxtou is in charge of arrangements
for tea afterwards.
All parents are urged to attend the
reception.
Southern Pacific
Poisons Squirrels
The Southern Pacific company this
week bought 2r0 pounds of poison
barley to dUtribute on its right of way
in lane county for the eradication of
tho grey digger squirrels, according to
0. S. Fletcher, county agricultural
agent. The railway company has al
ways co-operated iu this move
ment, the agent said.

Freight Truck
Damaged in Spill
One of the big freight trucks of the
Willamette Valley Transfer company
was wrecked on the Pacific highway
near the Kich field beacon north of
Eugene early Tuesday morning when
it ran off the grade and overturned.
The whole top of the truck was
smashed in and some of the freight
was damaged, but the driver was uninjured.
ROBBERY REPORTED
Robbery of the service station at
Creswell operated by Theodore Mor
tenseu was reported to the sheriff's
office Thursday. Thirty gallons of
gasoline were stolen. The robbery oc
curred several days ago.
CHILDREN'S PLAY
The annual children's play given by
Guild Hall Flayers of the I'niversity
of Oregon will bo presentej next
Tuesday afternoon. May 2(1. at 4
o'clock in Guild hall on the campus.
"Sir 1 avid Wears a Crow n." by
Stuart Walker, is the play selected.
This annual performance given for
the school children of Eugene is
produced on the campus by the class
in interpretation under the direction
of Cecil E. Mntson, assintant in the
drama department on the campus.
Last year two short plays were given.
"The Steadfast Tin SoUiier.' and the
"Knave of Hearts." There will be no
reserved seats but tickets will be
held for anyone wishing to call
Guild hall.
