Kerr Nursery Home will receive a
good supply of Christmas clothing,
was made evident December 9, when
the Girls' leauue met for their Christ
mas tea at the home of Mrs. (trace
Kirkhnm, and Miss Mildred Wilkens

print dresses and severnl other arti
cles for the habies were, received.
After admiring ench other's handi
work, the girls spent a busy half hour
tearing paper for dresses, and Phyllis
Weber the model, and Edith Mnr
quart, her dress maker, received the
prize for having msde the best pnper
dress. The girls simp severnl antics
accompanied by Miss Wilkens on the
nkelele. after which a delirious Inn
wns served from a table deenrnted
with a tiny Christ mns tree and red
tapers.

meeting was called and all of the
teachers were afrked to leave the
room. It Is too enrly to reveal the
nature of the busfnchs in hnnd. but
numerous hints indicate that the
Christmas celebration this year is to
he a bit different.

the audience apparently wns handed a
real treat when Elmer I'ullen, a hunt
er, lost his shoes it) getting away from
a bear. But the rcnl car-piercing yells
(nine when the bear stopped chasing
him, sniffed tho shoe and then tumbled
over dead. We are sure John Hoh-
man did not realize whnt he was do
ing when he skinned the bear and
slipped into its hide, and tried to hnve
some fun with his companion hunters,
who were to return soon. Not only
that, but he did not expect them to
come from behind, nor to use a shot
gun so accurately.

felt the need for a girls' league or
similar organization, have recently
formed the Associated Girl Students.

Other officers are Harriet Wise

surer. The girls will participate as a
body in practically all student func
tions and will sponsor affairs o their

A girls' assembly conducted by
Melba Cochran, was held Friday
morning to discuss the advisability of
organizing a girls leiigue or similar
organization in Cottage Grove high
school. Some of the officers of the
Eugene Girls league. Marian Davis,
president, Helen Harrison. Eva Shaw
and Lea Wilson, were present and
explained the Eugene league. The
Eugene high school girls' advisor,
Miss Lamb, introduced the girls.
Mias Jewel Muckinzie. girls athletic
instructor in Cottage Grove, present
ed Wilberta Wilson with a large let
ter for having earned 1000 points in
sports.
The Cottage Grove teachers' asso
ciation met Mondny evening at the
Colonial cafe for a social hour. Her
man Lafky was chosen to represent
the high school teachers at the state
teachers' nspocinlion meeting to be
held in Portland December 'JU, !i0 and
"I. Miss Margaret Deck was chosen
to represent the grade teachem. Su
perintendent D. A. Emerson and Mrs.
Kay Isom are to represent the county
at the state association mpeting.
The latter part, of the meeting was
for the high school teachers. Miss
Violet Mills. Miss MptI Boweu and
Mias Werdna Isbell reported on types
of individual instruction used in dif
ferent high schools.
The freshmen took a new project in
the citizenship contest at their clnss
meeting Wednesday morning. They
will put a new score board In the
gymnasium and keep the score of all
basketball games.
The juniors also took the new
project of collecting tinfoil for the
Shriners hospital in Portland. The
hospital will sell it to help provide
for crippled children in the hospital.
