Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy White from Co
qnille are in Wendling visiting with
Mra. White's folks. The White fam
ily lived in Wendlint aeveral years
and have returned here to visit friends
and relatives.
Robert Chamberlain, principal of
the Wendling grade school, and his
family left Wendling Saturday for
Corvallla where they plan to spend
the week-end and from there will go
on to Vancouver to visit with his par
ent, until atter the new year. Mr.
Chamberlain expects to attend the
meeting of the Oregon educatora In
Portland just after Christmas.
Mrs. Helen Bell of the fourth and
fifth ffrnH will snend the vacation
period at home in Mabel and with rel
atives in the valley.

and in Portland. Miss Burgess teaches

Mr.. Laurette Heiser of the third

holiday, in Wendling, Cottage Grove
and Portland. He will be In Port
land during the time the educators
have their sessions.

church Thursday afternoon for their
regular meeting. The afternoon waa
spent In visiting and quilting. Dur
ing tha time, a Christmas tree with

with meat.' -
When they were discovered they

had sawed off the lock with a hack

Daughters Hold Party
Local members of the Daughters of
the Nile entertained with a Christ
mas party Wednesday afternoon for
the club. Twenty-two were present,
of which number 17 were from Ku
gene. Mrs. Victor Chambers, Mr.
Roy Short, Mrs. C. A. Bartell, Mrs.
W. H. Lombard, Mrs. K. E. Mills
were hostesses. A luncheon was
served at the home of Mrs. Cham
bers and the Christmas tree wns held
st the homo of Mrs. Lombard. Favors
at tha luncheon were miniature
Christmas tree hung with candy cane.
Baskets of Yule tide greens tied with
bows of red ribbon, lighted red tap
ers and sprigs of mistletoe were at
tractive at the Lombard home.
Anniversary Observed
Mr. and Mrs. John Wallace cele
brated the fiftieth anniversary of
their wedding Friday, Dec. 10. The
couple, were married in Cottage Grove
and have made this their home most
of the time since. At the Rebokah
lodge, of which they era members,
an old time wedding and program was
riven in their honor Friday night.
Mr. Wallace wore her wedding frock.
