Runs Nail In Foot

Rain In Pasadena
It rains hard when it rains at all
in Pasadena, Cal., says Mrs. F. E.
Calkins, manager of the local branch
of the Oregon Motor association, who
is in the southern California city on a
visit. Mrs. Calkins writes to friends
here that there has been plenty of
rain there since she arrived, and it
seems to be continuous. It was the
first heavy rainlall there in several
months.

Leaving for Calcutta
Edward T. Stelle, who with Mrs.
Stelle has been .visiting in Eugene

Lamka Returns
A. W. Lamka, deputy collector of
Internal revenue, has returned from
a trip to Toledo and Taft. He will go
to Lowell and Oakridge the first of

J. C. Ackerson was among that
group of producers on hand for the
opening day of Eugene's first public
market back in 1015, waa there for
the last day in the old market, ana
waa among those moving into the
city's new half-million dollar Produc
era' Public market. He is at the mar
ket every day.
Mr. Ackerson came west to the Eu
gene vicinity in 1007 because of the
educational advantages for his three
children. The family came from North
Dakota.
He was born In Carver county, Min
nesota, September 24, 1S61. He has
three brothera living. He farmed in
Minnesota for a time, then moved into
Dakota to homestead in Velva town
ship near Minot.
When Mr. and Mrs. Ackerson came
here they bought a farm about a mile
north of Coburg.
They moved into Eugene when their
daughters were ready for high school.
The family home ia at 2178 Lincoln
street. -
Mr. and Mrs. Ackerson have one
son, Luton Ackerson, graduate of the
University of Oregon who Is now con
nected with the child welfare institute
at Chicago, and two daughters, twins.
Misses Joanne and Justine Ackerson,
who also graduated from the univer
sity here with high scholastic honors.
Miss Justine Ackerson is teaching at
Hartline, Wash., this year and Miss
Joanne Ackerson is at home for the
present.
Mr. Ackerson plays the fiddle and
has been in a number of the old-time
fiddling contests held here. "We old
