honeymoon trip which wa to
take them up the Redwood high
way to Oregon and Woodburn
to visit the bride's . parents and
friends, after which they plan
to motor to Quincy, Ma., where
their new home will be estab
lished.

Betrothal of
Couple Told
At Party
Miss Helen J. Stevenson told
her friends of her betrothal to
Mr. Philip H. Jaskoski at a
"welcome home" . party in her
honor Thursday night when her
sister-in-law, Mrs. Glen O.
venson, -entertained at her Mar
ket street home. The bride-to-.be
is the daughter of Mrs. Bess Ste
venson and her fiance is the, son
of Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Jaskoskf,
all of Salem. No date has been
set for the wedding.
Miss Stevenson was discharg
ed from the navy in December,
serving as a WAVE lin the hos
pital corps. She- Is a graduate of
Salem high school and attended
San Mateo Junior college. She is
now employed at that First Na
tional batik.
Mr. Jaskoski was released
from the navy in January as a
chief gunner's mate, after serv
ing for three years. He Is a gra
duate of Salem high school -and
la i now employed at the state
printing office.
Patsy Stevenson greeted the
guests at the door and passed
the Valentine announcements.
The hearts were edged in lace
and iiwtide was a snapshot of
the couple. A dessert supper was
served and the buffet table was
centered with two hearts bear
ing the names of the couple and
a red, silver and yellow color
scheme was carried out In the
flowers. Mrs. Fred Nicholl as
sisted the hostess.

cided to work towards a bazaar
in the fail. Old secret friends
were revealed and new ones
chosen for the coming year.
The men spent the evening
playing cards. Thirty -six mem

Beautiful flowler arrangements
by the Gaiety ikill Garden club
were used about the rooms. On
the piano was a stunning ar
rangement of laurestina and on
a table in thei drawing room
was a lovely bouquet of Iris,
daffodils, acacia and silk tassel
bush. Other bouquet were of
Christmas roses, daphne, cornus
mas, acacia and " f reesias.
The Valentine tea table was
most striking with a white cloth,
over .spring green and decora ted
with deep violet velvet ribbon.
The centerpiece was a large
round mirror encircled with a
pale green lace ruffle and in
dividual nosegays of crocuses,
violets, acacia and winter acon
ite in crystal vases on a lace
doily. In the center of the mir
ror was allver branch cande
labra holding spring green
tapers.
