Site for Building
The First National Bank of
Portland yesterday was granted
a city permit for the wrecking of
a service station at 290 N. Liberty
st. The bank previously announc
ed its intention of erecting a new
building on that site for its Salem
branch.
Other permits issued at the city
engineer's office went to Louis
Downing for erection of a $1000-one-story
house at 1485 Waller
St., ;to L. M. Wright for construc
tion of a $2500 one-story dwell-:

BOY'S EYE CUT
First aid workers last night
bandaged a cut left eye of four-year-old
Richard Beneman at the
armory. Watching the wrestling
show with his mother, the boy was
cut when he fell from his seat.
CHIMNEY BLAZES
City firemen were called to a
small chimney fire at 239 S. Cot
tage st. at 3 JO p. m. yesterday.
No damage was reported.

Funeral services will be held at
2 p. m. Thursday in the Ringo
parlors in Wtiodburn for Ben Jel
derks, who died suddenly in his
home west of here Monday morn
ing. He was 63.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs.
Ben Jelderks and the following
brothers and sisters: Minnie Par
sons and Rixie Vogt of Gervais,
Christine Rasmussen and Jennie
Rust of Minnesota, Neus Jelderks
of San Jose, Calif., Albert' Jel
derks of Beaverton, John, Her
man and Theodore of Salem.
A native of Freeport, Mr. Jel
derks had lived here for 26 years.
