in the starring
roles.
Hollywood does an awful lot of
talking about "new faces," but
only Warners thus far seems to
have done much about it. They've
given the youngsters carte bianche
in the stardom department, and
the youngsters have accepted the
opportunity and, for the most part,
made good on it.

ently still believes that Clark Ga
ble is the personification of the
fountain of youth and that his sue

will spring full-blown from the
brow of Louis B. Mayer's ghost.
They seem to forget that Gable
himself wag an unknown youngster
at one time and that at least one
major stadia turned him down cold
, because Ma ears were too big.

Game Commission
Closes Game Bird
Farm at Ontario
ONTARIO, Ore., Nov. 20 or
The state Game Commission to
day said it has closed its game
bird farm here.
The farm's operations have
been moved to a similar facility
at Hermiston, the commission
said. ,
Since it opened in 1938, the
farm here produced 289,000
pheasants. The commission said
it closed the farm because costs
would have been too high for
needed repairs.

Philip gava Queea Elizabeth a
gleaming electric kettle today, an
anniversary gift marking 10 years
of happy marriage.
Just what the Queen would do
with the kettle could not be
guessed. It appeared to be some
little family joke, he accompanied
it with a piece of jewelry designed
by himself, and a large bouquet of
white flowers.

10-Year Power
Outlook Said
Improved
PORTLAND, Nov. 20 - The
Northwest's 10-year power outlook
has improved in the past 12
months, the Bonneville Power ad
ministrator said Tuesday.
There now is new generation in
sight, and regional' load estimates
are about the same as a year ago,
William Pearl told the Bonneville
Regional Advisory Council.
Plans announced or approved in
the past year. Pearl said, will add
more than seven million kilowatts
of power to the Northwest pool in
the next 10 years. r
This power, he said, includes
more than three million kilowatts
of federal power and four million
kilowatts of non-federal power.
The additions include the federal

projects, Pearl said.
- Pearl said a power deficit is in
dicated by 1965-66.
He added, however, full power
demands could be met by projects
now being considered but not def

To Build Italy's
A-Power Station
LONDON, Nov. 20 l-A British
firm ' today announced agreement
to build nuclear power stations for
Italy.
The London Chronicle said Brit
ain had beaten the United States
in a five-year race to sell the first
atomic power station abroad and
that Japan may soon place a con
tract in this country as well.
The Nuclear Power Co. said it
will build a power station at a site
"somewhere north of Naples,"
and cooperate with Italy on the
design and development of power
reactors on a long-term basis.

NEW YORK, Nov. 20 UtV-A Zulu
disc-jockey arrived from South
Africa tonight and complained
that rock 'n' roll is displacing the
traditional Zulu music in the
hearts of his people.
King Edward Masinga, 41, who
conducts' a daily Zulu-language
program in Durban featuring the
old folk music, said he came here
on a special State Department
grant to study American drama
and broadcasting.
Even the rural . strongholds of
traditional ways in Natal are not
safe from the all-pervading rock
'n' roll, he said. The Negroes buy
records in towns and take them
into the back country.

conservation of natural resources
cannot be carried on by the fed
eral government alone, the direc
tor of the Bureau of Land Man
agement said today.
Private citizens, industry, civic
organizations and state and local
governments also must help in the
development and conservation of
resources, Edward Woozley said
Woozley told the Columbia Basin
Inter-Agency Committee that co
operation is needed particularly
in the nation s great river basins.
Such cooperation, be said, is
"exemplified here in the Columbia
Basin Inter-Agency Committee.
Woozley said, however, that
"The development of the pro
grams for action will require a
reconciliation of many different
points of view."

time ago he had been shown what
appeared to be "two shrunken
heads" at Gein's farm near here.
"He said they were sent to him
bv a cousin from the Philippines,"
young Hill recalled. "I didn't
think anything about it at the
time."
Authorities found a collection of
skulls on the farm and took them
to the State Crime Laboratory at
Madison, where Gein underwent
two days of questioning. He ad
mitted today the deaths of two
middle-aged women Mrs. Bernice
Worden, a Plainfield storekeeper
whose body was found on the
farm Saturday night some hours
after she was reported missing;
and Miss Mary Hogan of nearby
Bancroft, who disappeared late in
1954.
"He was a little peculiar," said
Mrs. Norris Diggles, "Like that
time Mary Hogan disappeared.
People would kid Ed about it and
he'd say, sure, he did it. When
ever there was any crime any
where Ed would confess to it.
Everybody thought it was a big
joke."

the Portland Air Force Base.
