cial ) Stanford has taken the lead
in team passing in Pacific Coast
Conference football while Southern
California continues on top by a
narrow margin in rushing and
total offense, according to statis
tics released today by- the PCC
Commissioner's office.
Oregon leads in total defense for
the ninth straight week, but vir
tually every team, statistical title
will be "up for grabs" this week-,
end with two and three teams in
close ' contention in every depart
ment. Southern California leads Wash
ington, 138 4 yards to 2S7.6, in
rushing and the Trojans have a 315
yard tofal offense average to 341.1
for Stanford and 341.1 for Wash
ington State. Stanford's margin
over Washington State in passing
is 21S.1 to KM. ,
Ducks Lead aver UCLA
Oregon has allowed 233.3 total
yards on defense to 249.7 for UCLA
and the Ducks also lead in pass
defense with 73.1 yards to S2.4 for
California. UCLA has allowed 146.4
yards rushing to 151.2 for Oregon.
UCLA has replaced Southern
California in the team punting
lead with a 40 5 average to 38.7
for SC. The Trojans, however, lead
in interceptions with 17, to 16 for
UCLA, and in kickoff returns with
a 23 yard average to 20.6 for Ore
gon. The Ducks have the best
average on punt returns, 18.6, to
