area ire busily planning the first
annual Santiam Memorial Hospi
tal benefit breakfast to be held
Sunday. -
' All the organizations are back
ing this breakfast much at all the
communities- backed the buildings
of !the hospital a few years ago.
Breakfast will be served from
: a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Civic
Biildint in Stayton. It will consist

. Some of the organisation! who
will take part are: The Junior
Chamber of Commerce, which will
attend to getting tables and
chairs; Knights of Columbus, who
have charge of dishes and silver;
arjd the Stayton Chamber which Is
(oiling tickets. The Chamber re
portedly has distributed tickets to
evry organization in trie canyon.
Professional Women's Club and
Women's Hospital Auxiliary will
decorate, while the Sportsman's
Club and Saddle Club will really
have to show their sportsmanship,
as its members are to wash the
dishes. The Shrine Club will clean
up.
Attending to the food will be Ken
Golleit, Jerry Coffman, and Del
. br Ditter. Serving will be done
bv Rainbow Girls of Stayton and

and other amusements.

meeting. The class had twelve stu
dents but has dropped te six. It

for the group's program.

charge of the Riverside Seminary
conducted by the Servite -Fathers.

to pay last respects to the Rev.
William Schooler, who died in
Eugene Sunday just as he had
finished his first morning services
and was preparing for the second.
Death was attributed to a heart
attack.
Services for the Rev. Mr.
Schoeler, whose home in recent
months has been at 3551 E. Burn
side St., Portland, will be at 11
a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran
Church, SE 39th and .Tibetts Sts.,
with final rites at Portland
Memorial Cemetery. :
The Rev. Mr. Schooler has con
ducted many services at Silverton,
and was instrumental in organiz
ing the Lutheran Student Founda
at Oregon state colleges and uni
versities. Trinity Lutheran congregation,
Silverton, was one of the early
Lutheran congregations in . the
state to endorse the work of the
Rev. Mr: Schoeler. For the last
10 years he was state supervisor
for the Lutheran Brotherhood In
surance, as well as substitute pas

were reunited after 44 years here
when Mrs. J. J. Johns answered
a knock at her door recently.
Mrs. Johns and her cousin, Mrs.
Julia McLaf forty were college "co
eds in Illinois, but had not seen
each other since 1912 when Mrs.
Johns moved to Oregon.
Mrs. McLaffcrty now is residing
in Long Beach, Calif."
