Appointment of Dr. M t r t h a
Sprinter, professor of biology at
Willamette U n I v e r i t y, to the
AAUW Committee on standards
and Recognition of colleges and
universities by the American As
sociation of University Women na
tional board, was announced this
week by Mrs. C. D. Winston, North
Pacific vice-president from Ash
land. The committee studies those
schools applying for accreditation
by AAUW. Visits are made to the
schools which qualify and they are
recommended for accreditation by
the national board.
The committee also re-surveyi
periodically the accredited schools
In insure maintenance of standards.
Women are eligible, for AAUW
only if they graduate from a col
lege or university which has hecn
so-accredited.
Miss Springer will serve for two
years on this committee. She re
ceived her A. B. and A. M. in
biological science from Stanford
University and her Ph.D. in botany
from University of Michigan.
She has been an acting instructor
of biology at Stanford, an instruc
tor of botany at Connecticut Col
lege and Indiana University prior
to her appointment at Willamette
