Janowicz Has
'Little Chance'
'Skins Not Counting
On Vic Returning
WASHINGTON. Sept. 20
George Preston Marshall, owner of
the Washington Redskins, said to
day there is almost no chance that
injured halfback Vic Janowicx will
be able to play this year for his
National Football League club.
Janowicx suffered a severe con
cussion in an automobile accident
last month at Los Angeles, after
the Redskins opened their exhibi
tion season with a victory over
that city a Rams.
With Quarterback Al Dorow also
sidelined by injuries and No. 1
passer Eddie LeBaron just back in
action the Redskins have had a
hard time winning ever since. They
lost last Sunday to arch neighbor
hood rivals, the Baltimore Colts.
Janowicz, former Ohio State All
America, was second high scorer
in the league with 88 points last
year and led the Redskins in
ground gaining. He figured high
in Washington's hopes for this
season.
The 190-pound back is still in a
Los Angeles hospital. "He's due
to be released this weekend and
return to Washington for further
treatment, but Marshall told a
luncheon given the Redskins by the
Washington Touchdown Club "it
doesn't look good."
