22 Cases of
Polio Noted
In Chicago
CHICAGO, Sept. 4 ( The
Board of Health today reported 22
new cases or polio with two deaths
over the Labor Day weekend.
The cases raised Chicago's total
for the year to 993, with 31 deaths.
In 1952, the previous high inci
dence year, 598 cases and 31
deaths had occurred by the same
date.
None of this year's fatal cases
had received all three Salk vac
cine shots.'
