Latourette of the Oregon Supreme . Court. I The jurist died hist Saturday from cancer at the age of (7. Latourette, a lifetime Oregon resident, was appointed to the state's high court in 1950 by Douglas McKay, then governor, to replace Justice E. M. Page, who had resigned because of ill health. Latourette later was elected to the position and served as chief Justice in 1953-54. He was admitted to the State Bar in 1913 after his graduation from the University of Oregon, where he was a star football halfback. ' In 1913 Latourette was appointed circuit judge for Clackamas Cotin - ty and held that position until he went on the atate bench. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Eleanor Marshall Latourette: two brothers Howard V. and John R both of Portland; two daugh - ters, Mrs. . Kevin Cooke, Denver and Mrs. Kenneth Linklater.
