Sandwich meals ran come to the
table as hot dishes ind offer
numerous flavor surprises, such
an asparagus - eg sandwiches.
Here, anparagua spears are laid
on toast slices, topped with a
colorful tomato sauce, finished
with a aprinklinf of ilivered al
monds, the dih put under the
broiler to be served hot.
Frankfurter-cheese ro(I$ are an
undercover treat, hollowed out
frankfurter buna with a tempting
filling of cheese, pickled relish
and finely cut frankfurters. To be
repeated often it cranberry-cheese
toastwich, a French toast sand
wich. Other entrees include tuna
Cheese sandwiches, hamburger
party sandwiches a ad cheese-;
alive-bacon roll-ups.
ASPARAGUS EGG SANDWICH I
- I slices bread
I tablespoons soft butter
er margarine
I hard-cooked eggs, sliced
U cooked green asparagus
spears '
Salt and pepper to taste
, cup tomato sauce
1 tablespoons slivered
almonds
Toast bread and spread with
butter. Arrange egg slices on
buttered toast. Top with aspara
gus spears. Sprinkle with salt and
pepper. Pour tomato sauce ever
asparagus spears. Scatter al
monds on top. Place en a cookie
sheet and broil until nuts are
browned and sauce is hot, about
f minutes. ServeJmmediately.
Yield: Asparagus Egg Sand

ROLLS
nnsliced frankfurter buns
4 cup finely cut frankfurters
cup finely cubed process
American cheese
I tablespoons sweet pickle
relish
I tablespoon prepared
Vt cup mayonnaise or salad

Hollow out frankfurter buns,
from end to end, with sn apple
torer; Combine frankfurters,
cheese, pickle relish, mustard and
mayonnaise. Fill center of each
rnl! with tt cup -of frankfurter
cheese mixture. Wrap rolls in
aluminum foil and heat In a mod
erate oven "350 F.) for fifteen
minutes. Yield: Frankfurter
Cheese Rolls.
CRANBERRY CHEESE
TOASTWICH v

to nip soft butter or margarine
11 slices process American '
cheese
cup canned (whole berry)
cranberry sauce
1 eggs, beaten slightly
cup milk
H cup shortening
Butter bread. On each of bread
slices, lay a slice of cheese and
top it with 1 tablespoons of cran
berry aauce. Place a second slice
of cheese over the sauce a a d
finish sandwich with a slice of
bread. Combine beaten eggs and

It on both sides. Brown sandwich,

lint shortening in a skillet. Serve

TUNA . CHEESE SANDWICH
1 cup or 1 7-ounce can
tuna, flaked
tt cup chopped celery
I tablespoons pickle relish
or piccalilli
H cup mayonnaise or
salad dressing
I sandwich buns, sliced
slices process cheese
1 tablespoons soft butter
or margarine
Combine tuna, celery, pickle
relish and mayonnaise. Spread V
cud tuna mixture on bottom halves
of buns and cover with a slice
of cheese. Spread top Half of each

both halves of the buns, cut and

sheet. Bake in a hot oven 400

loaf, but that's what makes it

VEAL BAUMONE
I pounds vesl
1 tablespoon salt
I teaspoon saltpeter
I sliced onions
M lemon, sliced
I bay leaves
Parsley
It whole cloves
Few Juniper berries
1 teaspoon crushed whita
. pepper
Few tarragon leaves
Few stalks thyms
Vlncgsr
M pound fresh sardines
1 heaping tablespoon capers
I small, white onions
H wina glass oliva oil
Mayonnaise
v Rub the veal with salt and salt
peter. Place In pot with the J
sliced onions, lemon, nay leaves,
parsley, cloves, white pepper, Jun
iper berries, tarragon leaves and
thyme. Add some vinegar. Turn
the meat several times daily in
this brine, for I days. At end of
tills time, fill the pot with water
and simmer for t hours. Let meat
cool In the juice.
Cook the sardines with parsley,
capers and white onions; mix with
olive oil.
When meat ia cold, remove from
marinade, slice and arrange on a
platter. Cover slices with the sar
dine paste, decorate abundantly
with mayonnaise seasoned with
mustard and sprayed through a
pastry tuba.
