Dr. Michelson has twice made
extensive tours of Palestine, the
new state of Israel, and Europe.
He will give first-hand accounts
of the development in Palestine
and the unique position of the
Jews today in relation to present
world crisia.
Formerly a judge and attorney
in Germany, Dr. Michelson waa
reared in Orthodox Jewry, but
later embraced Christianity.
He is director of world wide
missionary enterprise, with repre
sentatives in England, Australia,
Germany,, France, Palestine and
elsewhere.
"He has the drive of a Moses
and the teal of a Paul,"- says, the
Rev. Steve Ferko of Los Angeles,
field secretary of the Hebrew
Evangelization Society.
'Dr. Michelson broadcasts the
"Hebrew Christian Hour." He is
slated to appear at Silverton on
July 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the First
Christian Church, It Newberg on
July 25 and Albany on July 26.

meeting of the M.Y.F. council on
Thursday evening. Jim Bowlin,
Faith area chairman, is in charge

ing I'p With Ycur Age" and has
been assisted by the area coun
selor. Mr. Elmer Church.
At Sunday evening"! meeting the'
group will consider the problems
of maturing adolescence behavior,
with special emprasia on teen-age
driving. In the following Sunday,

cluded when the topic "Kinder
Itarten Religion" la considered
with Betty Aston, as chairman for
thit meeting. Evaluation of the
maturity of one's religious faith
will be presented in a novel man

At the council meeting, Ward
Harris, general chairman of the
recent Ice cream social gave a
financial report, and the council
voted $D of the proceeds towards
the $50 pledge the group has

Give Sermon
Guest Minister at the Knight
Memorial Congregational Church
Sunday, in the absence of the pas
tor. Louis E. White, will be Dr.
Robert M.. Gatke. a member of
the faculty of Willamette Univer
sity. He will speak on the sub
ject "Enlarging Our Dwellings."
Special music will be provided by
Helen Harrison, soloist,- accom
panied by Mrs. Lewis Mitchell.
Small children will be cared for
in the church-time nursery.
There will be no meeting of the
Tilgrim Youth Fellowship Sunday
evening, at many of the members
of this group will be on a beach

Open Monday
The 103rd annual session of
the Pacific Northwest Conference
of the Evangelical United Brethren
Church will begin on Monday.
July 23 at the Conference-owned
grounds at Jennings Lodge, Ore.
(The Jennings Lodge Assembly
Grounds). The sessions (business)
will be held in the Junior High
Chapel near the main entrance of
the Assembly Grounds. The Con
ference session will last through
July 2 and the Annual Assembly
(ciasset in Bible teaching, meth
ods of instruction, etc.) will begin
at 1 p.m. on that Sunday with the
Dr. H. H. Dockter of Cheyenne,
Wyo., at the Assembly speaker.
The Conference Sessions will be
presided Iver by the Bishop Ira
D. Warner of Puente, Calif. The
meeting! of Monday, July 23. will
be with the various committees,
which mutt complete last minute

Church. The Luther League will
go on a hay-ride, starting from
the church at 3:30 p.m. Sunday
evening. Destination is the David
Strand farm where there will be
an outdoor picnic. Each leaguer

clothes are mandatory.
Immanuel congregation will
meet Monday night at I o'clock to
consider the calling of a new pas
tor. There will be no services in the
Silverton Seventh Day Adventist
Church either this Ssturday or on
July 28. Members plan to go to
Gladstone Park to take part in the
annual camp meeting now in ses
sion there. Services will resume

cil of Congregational Christian
Churches will be given Sunday at
the First Congregational Church.
The report will be given by Dr.
Paul A. Daviet, Portland, minis
ter and superintendent of the Ore
gon Conference of Congregational
Churches', at the 10 a.m. service.
Dr. Daviet was one of the 2,300
delegates and -alternates who at
tended the meeting, at which (he
General Council voted to unite
with the Evangelical and Re
formed Church.

The Rev. Lawrence Guderian of
McMinnville wat named chairman
of the Journals Committee.
The conference resulted in re
assignment of four bishops, in
cluding A. Raymond Grant to the
Portland area.
Dr. Alan Walker, trader of the
Mission lo the Nation in Australia
challenged the churches of Amer
ica to a larger concern about 70
million Americana outside church
influence. As a featured tpeaker
he decried the world-wide disposi
tion toward th hue gods of nar
row nationalism, war and sei."

will succeed the Rev. Omar Berth
who hat already left to accept a
call to a church In Peterson, N.J.
The Rev. Mr. Ormond wat
trained at Colgate-Rochetter Sem
inary, ordained In his native state
of Virginia. He served several
pastorates before going to Casper
tnree years ago as pastor of the
First Baptist Church there.
He expect to arrive here with
his wife and three children about
