Cheese and fruit is happy com
bination that's ideal, for snack,
dessert or appetizer service. This
refreshing duo is a favorite of
most men and children so why not
treat the family to cheese and
fruit snack before a family din
ner of special meal.
Preparations just naturally call
for some extra time in the kitchen
on special occasions but luckily,
cheese and fruit is easy and quick
to serve. Just slice unpeeled peach
es, pears, apples and any other
fruit into thin wedges. Brush the
rut surfaces with a small amount
of lemon juice to prevent darken
ing and arrange the slices fan fa
shion in two or three rows.
Cheese spreads in glass jars
make excellent dips. and spreads.
They are good just whipped until
fluffy and served as js or person
alized by adding other flavors.
Some good flavor additions are
made by mixing celery and lemon
juice with blue cheese spread, or
by adding apple juice to a testy
type cheddar spread.
Serve one ot two cheese dips
right on the snack tray surrounded
by the attractively arranged fruit
pieces. An assortment of crackers
for dipping may be served on j
separte plate.
Here are easy directions for mix
ing these special family day dips.
Blue Creese Celery Dtp
J ounce package blue cheese
I tablespoons fined chopped celery
3 tablespoons milk ,'
I tablespoon lemon juice
Have cheese at room tempera
ture. Combine cheese, celery, milk
and lemon juice. Stir until well
blended. Serve dip with sliced fresh
fruit or crackers. Yield one cup.
Cheese Apple Dip
B -ounce jar cheese spread
3 tablespoons apple juice
Have cheese spread at room
temperature. Stir apple juice into
cheese spread until mixture is
smooth. Serve dip with sliced fresh
fruit or crackers. Yields 1 cup dip.
DULL BEST I
Don't try to shin up that old
tin pie pan. A dull pu gives
better baked bottom crust and a
more evenly browned crisp top!
crust than a shiny pan.
