KEIZER-Frank Hughes, owner
of the Keller Super Market, has
sold his business to Cliff Norwood
who will take over operation of
the store on July IS. Hughes re
tains ownership of the building
and property.
The market, built eight years
ago by Hughes,' was among the
first buildinas of the rapidly grow
ing Keizrr business district.
Mr. and Mrs. Norwood now live
in Salem, but expect to move into
the Keixer district soon. They
have a daughter, Carole, IS, and
a toa, Jim, 13.

Tuesday.
The tslent show will be held
Wednesday night, August 1, as a

KEIZER Plans for a 40.000
square foot shopping center area
in Keirer were revealed Tuesday
by Bud Sheridan.
, First business slated to open is
a clothing center to be operated
by Mr. and Mrs. John. Romano,
who now operate the Hollywood
Apparel Shop. A target date of
August IS Is set for the opening of
the store which will feature wom
en's and children's clothes, with
men's slacks and work clothing
also in stock.
Lynn J. Callahan is architect Jor i
the project; Dent and Fussell are ;
the building contractors. The mod
ern building will feature M per
cent glass area and will have ap
proximately 3.000 feet of sales
floor space. Off-street parking will
be provided and the parking area
is due to be blacktopped at an
early date.
Other businesses art expected
ta open in the district within a
year. Two banking firms havt this
area under consideration for a
branch opening, Sheridan stated.
Total space contemplated for the
shopping center includes off-itreet
parking for over 7S cars.

Victor Bride have proved" lhat Ihe
"good neighbor policy" is not a
forgotten art at least, It isn't in
this community.
On May II, Bride was cutting
wood with a power saw on his
home wood lot. When 5:30 p.m.
arrived and he didn't come to the
house, Mrs. Bride went to see
what was wrong. She found her
husband unconscious beside the
uncut log. She had to return to the
house and call neighbors.

When the doctor arrived he found
Bride was the victim of a stroke
that affected his entire right side.
Fr l then on, the neighbors put
the good will policy in full swing.
Willard Pruiett milked, the cows
twice a day until Bride w.u able
to make decisions and had the
cows sold. Now Mrs. Dale Pons-
ford brings the Brides their extra
milk.

Captain Dies

lee, SI, former Albany city police
captain, died Monday night at a
Lebanon hospital following a
heart attack.
Chanlee was visiting in Leban
on when stricken. He was a mem
ber of the police force here for
approximately M years and re
signed In April to enter the real
estate business at Vancouver,
Wash. Ht wat a veteran of World
War I.
Services will be beld at 3 p.m.
Thursday at Huston mortuary,
Lebanon, and burial will be in
Lebanon IOOF Cemetery. The Al
bany Elks Lodge will conduct
graveside services.
Survivors include his wife,
Anne; three sisters, Mrs: George
Walker, Vancouver, Wash., Mrs.
Blanche Willis, Dunnelon, Fla.,
and Mrs. Ralph Skoll, Salem.

improving slowly. He enjoys hav
ing his "good neighbors"' in for a
short chat.
