Won't Jlookow.
Hitllli:
but . . ask youngster tho foolish ques
tion "How high, is up"- in our early days and ,
you'd cause complete bewilderment, but ask
it in this nigh altitude age and
."jwe bet you'll get an answer.
' " - Crveky I thildreii" . . .
There's one thing that has not
't o ' changed, and that's the old
V v Vfcket of offering ponies and
j bicycles tor answers to pui-
ties (blanks available with e
purchase of the product of
course.) The contest always
sounds so simple, but the
many hopeful little entrants
who participate have had their hearts broken
when the added clauses to the rules are found
to be far more complicated. Someone may win
in -those huge contents but nobody we ever
lioow does.
' Eyecatching . . the 500 - plant azalea
planting in Bush's Pature should bring many
visitors to the city park but many of us won
der if some funds wouldn't be well spent on I
rew coat of paint for . the Bush house. It's
presently in a very bad state of exterior dis
repair and not attractive to visitors. In view
Of the fact that a certain Scotchman saw fit to
give away azaleas for betterment of the park,
isn't there kilt-wearing paint dealer who'd
like to donate some liquid exterior decoration?
The Keith Powells who live just east of the
Bush house in a well kept up home of consid
erable age, have had many visitors request
edmiitance because they believe it to be the
lnh house. Their suggestion is that beauti
ful buttercup yellow with white trim would
make the old museum a bright and attractive
landmark which would attract visitors to the
right place instead of the wrong.
And howl , . . This I believe, the sign out
on our road that has been offering the as
suiance for the past rainy week that there's
"20 acres of irrigated strawberries" out there,
read to be picked.
ladies' Day . . . Looking through the state
library's cards for The Girl With the Swans
down Seat (don't ask what it is, we just know
il'v a book) we found there's a whole crowd
Of girls with things including, The Pay Check,
Ambftion, The Golden Eye, Flaxen Hair,
Frightened Eyes, Green fye$i, Hole- in Her
Head, Red Feather and With a Stoop, This of
course means nothing, except that we patron
ize the state library occasionally.
