Dr. Salim Abdel Abdulhak, head of the Syrian archeological depart ment, . predicted the discovery in northern Syria would attract world wide interest. He called Semira a "treasure mine of Phoenician, Armenian, As syrian and Greek archeological finds which will throw light on so far unknown historical occur rences." Abdulhak said Syrian trade flowed through Semira to the Med iterranean basin centuries before Christ.
